Power steering failure
Hey folks,
Did a power turn (donut)with the Mustang....engine hit the rev limiter.....and then no more power steering. Fluid reservoir is full, no leaks, belt is still there.....fluid is not circulating in the reservoir. Any suggestions? Quick fix or am in for replacing the power steering pump? I can still steer the car, however at low speed, I need 2 hands to turn the wheel, just like the old cars with no power steering...... Please advise..... |
Sounds like the power steering pump to me. Not sure how fond you are of Ford Service but by putting their code reader on the engine they would have an exact diagnosis of the problem.

I don't really understand how the code reader would pick up on the power steering since it's mechanical....but I will be bringing it to the dealer on June 3rd for a diagnosis.....Is there a pressure relief valve in the power steering pump?

Code reader might not pick up on the power steering, but I'll bet they would know you hit the rev limiter. lol

Had the car at the dealer.....power steering pump was the fix.....first time they ever saw that at such low mileage.....oh well, no code reader needed....hehhe.....
