I know very old thread. I was looking for a picture to someone what the RCMP Mustangs looked like.

Back in 86 the RCMP set up a driving course at the Boundary Bay airport. Very close to the Deas Island RCMP station. My Father had a plane at the airport, so I saw the Mustangs a lot.

One night one of the Mustangs followed my Dad to almost Tsawwassen. At the turn lights to Tsawwassen. My Dad and the Mustang got into a stop light drag race. They raced along the ferry causeway. Sorry to disappoint you all but the 85 928S is a lot quicker.

A 3000 lb, 210hp Mustang that was priced at $14000.

A 3450 lb, 300 hp Porsche 928S that was priced at $50000.

I hope the 928 was faster for that kind of cash.

And half the cops could not drive those things.
People say the same about new mustangs.
so and so a car beats the Mustang all day.
Oh ya its a $90k car or more.

Here is another great recent article from the RCMP Veterans Website. With colour photos!

Always wanted to get a good picture of the first ones or even one of the actual cars. I settled on a 85 GT Conv instead, and still have it.

Those cars are a neat piece of history.

I have seen a couple of them over the years. I have seen 2 in the London, On area that were imported from the states and the rest at shows in the states.
Drove Police Cars for many years. The best was the Ford Crown Vic. The best seats (very important) was a beater Rambler at Port Alberni Detachment cira mid 70’s.

A Police buddy in Perth AUS said that the Mustang has failed in a selection process for new Police Cars - it was a Transmission failure, with no second chance given .
