I just bought rear window louver willpak aluminum for my 2011 stang. I called around some shops to install them and there telling me that they've put them on a bunch of times before for people and after a while they come flying off.. I called the actual willpak store in Oakville and they said as long as you put them on right they will never come off. "We've been in business over 30 years if we had all our louvers flying off we wouldn't be in business". Has anyone here had louvers put on the rear window.. If so did they end up popping or flying off? Because the shop dasilva who know everything about mustang swore that they followed the instructions to a tee. The last thing I wanna do is put anyone driving behind me in danger by having my louver fly off into them. Can anyone shed done insight on this for me?? Thanks!

 

I think they are just attached with 2 sided tape. As long as everything is clean and prepped properly it should be fine, but if it's not and the thing comes off, somebody's gonna have a bad day.

 

I've had the Wilpak ABS Louvers on for two years now and there is no sign that they are coming off and I drive mine year round. The mounting plates are in the same condition as when I installed them. Just remember to put a bead of silicone sealant around the edge of the mounting plates or make sure the shop you have installing it does and you should be good to go.

 

Totaljustice where did you get your installed if you don't mind me asking. Seems like your shop did it right.

 

I installed it myself. The instructions that came with mine were very straightforward. I had access to a garage so I could let it sit and let the adhesive cure for 24 hours. I didn't want to screw it up either so I followed the instructions very carefully. I had a friend help me place it on the window. You have to be coordinated though because you only get one shot. Once that adhesion promoter touches the adhesive tape it bonds like Krazy Glue. The installation was by no means hard but you just have to be careful.

Go to this thread where I posted some more information about what I did to the car. When you read about the issue I had with the ABS louver, I don't think you'll have the same problem with the Aluminum but as you'll read the problem was fixed pretty quick. Good Luck.

 

Thanks! Very helpful! I saw the picture where it lifted. I'm just hoping the aluminum will sick the same way as there gonna be a bit heavier. I also heard something about hearing rattling if not installed properly. I trust myself for many things but the one thing I've learned is I can't trust myself when it comes to something important haha! I'm going to take it to a shop.

I actually spoke to willpak in Oakville and they told me to contact them in a few weeks and they'll install it. So I'm expecting perfection lol.
