Removing hood insulation?

Any body know what to use to remove those plastic clips holding on the hood cover.. I'm removing it because its all messed up. I know the only reason we have the hood insulation is it would smother out an engine fire.

Thanks Rob:)

I just pulled mine and they popped out.

Same here! :tup

Side cutters work great. You can use them to pry the clips out or just cut the heads off.

Thanks guys, I got it off in about 10 minutes. Looks alot cleaner :)

Is there any advantage to having it, or not having it? Other than the fire thing. :?

I heard that your engine would be a bit cooler without the hood insulation:)

I just pulled mine off, no problems. I still have it but no car lol

I have heard of people have paint issues on the hood after removal but I have never witnessed this myself. I removed them off of some of my older stangs and had no issues. On my new one I plan on leaving it on for sure.

Rip that garbage off ... looks way better ;) :tup

I was thinking of getting one of these. My new GT's is getting pretty thick and was saggy so I yanked it off.

Stu, did you ever order this. I just ordered a liner from these guys as well. After cutting my OEM limer for the shaker and now for the hood locks it was looking pretty shabby. So tore it out today.
The aircraft firewall material is vinyl nitrile...thin, pliable and glues up under the hood. Should be easy to keep clean(just wipe off) and look good. You have to use a high temp glue (3M #80)...placed glue order today.
It's being shipped late next week and I'll let you know what it turns out like...gotta be better then what I got now.
