Rubber Question

Hey Guys,

Wondering about rubber... i am in the mood and in the need of new rubber, not sure if I am going for some new rims... I have my eyes on some of those bullit replicas, 17"x10.5" rears and 17"x9" for the front... I am wondering what will rubber cost for those... are we talking "BIG BUCKS"? I might just wrap the rims i have... they are good enough... as well i was thinking of lowing it about an inch or so... the car sits too high with the stock rims...

Looking for your opinions and advice... (I have a tire guy and can get great deals... the rims are aprox $600 out of the states... no rubber)

Thanks,

Grant

Tires will be $800+ depending what brand and size you go with, I'd keep the stockers but go 275/40 rear and 245/45 front, then lower the car 1.5" and tint the glass.thumb: A decent tire with good pricing is the BFG g-force sport.

Sweet, thanks... ya i have to get some tint done... not sure what i want really.... strait black or fade in some silver? The tint guy warned me about the cops... with the black on black, i don't think i have to go too dark... I will mention that to my tire guy...

Thanks again,

Grant

Depends on how you drive. If you are going to shred them go cheap, if not something more expensive. I can tell you my Michelin Pilots run 550 per 275/40/18 smack:

With 10.5" rears they recommend 315/35/17 and those will cost you a good buck. That's most likely the size I'm going with and I think the rears are going to cost around $280 US each.

^I would go just black, my '01 had 20% all around and I'm pretty happy with it, no hassle from cops either.

Here's what the tire combo I suggested will look like on stock 8" wheels.

^This car also has 20% tint all around.

Here's another pic of that car, you can't really tell the size difference, but it's all I've got. Also, if you go with 10.5" rears and 315s you will need to roll your rear fenders on a lowered car. If you click on my pictures they will show up much clearer and a little larger.

Don't get the silver to black tint, I think it looks horrible on cars... but that's just my opinion.

Thanks Flynnt, figured I would have to go big... or go home... I think I am going to save some bucks and invest in a fox with the brother in law... he is the mechanical person... i can split the costs and learn!!

Nice pics Ponyryd, i think i will go with the 20% all around... Will have to wait for a day off... one question... i remember tinting my '88 Z24 and the back window was always a sensitive subject... whats it like with the mustang....??

I will post a new pic with the few mods done when i get the summers on... Barrie gets too much snow to keep the stocks on!

Thanks again for your help,

Grant
