heyy guys, I was hoping maybe someone out their has a write up on how to get rid of a rust hole... I found one in the door jam... from what I have heard alll I gotta do is make the hole bigger and get rid of all of it than weld a sheet of metal over it and paint it.. is there any other way someone else might do it ? thanks!:tup

That's essentially how I'd do it. Cut the rust out, weld in fresh patch, grind the welds flat and paint. Good as new.

its in the driver side door jam.. my plan is to cut out all around it and make sure all the surface rust us gone and then put a sheet over it.. hopefully that will put an end to it... http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-remove-rust I thought that video would be useful for anyone whos trying to get rid of rust on smaller parts :tup

ouch. you might find that it is more than just a little hole. you might need to refabricate the whole door jam. as soon as you start to grind you will see it is more than you anticipated. if you are looking for an inexpensive fix. cut a peice of sheet metal a little bigger than the hole. then get some panel adhesive and glue the sheet metal from the back side. wait a few minutes for it to harden then fill with body filler of reinforced fiberglass body filler. sand smooth and paint. wont last too long but will be nice for a while.

Yeah I wanna make sure it's done right I plan on keeping this car thanks though
