A Sad Day

Just want to let everyone know the untimely demise of my Mustang. She was only 110,000 km old. Way too young and beautiful.

I went to a pub and had a few drinks, So I was in no condition to drive. I knew this would be the case so I took the subway to the bar. My Fiancée, who is a pretty good driver, came to pick me and take me home. On the way home she was making a right turn, and to be clear, she did everything right. She came to a complete stop, looked around, then proceeded to turn. A car that was obscured from view smashed in to the front left of my car.

We were in School Zone and the posted limit was 40km/hr. The other car must have been speeding and/or not paying attention because the damage was pretty severe. They made no attempt to stop, no brakes, and no attempt to swerve. Straight impact.

Majority of front end, radiator, fan, and battery was destroyed. The right tire, control arm, etc. badly damaged. The engine looks in good condition and intact. But unfortunately, the frame of the car is pretty twisted, and I don't think it fixable.

Now because I live in Toronto, I pay $435 a month on car insurance. Unfortunately that coverage is only one-way insurance. Because she was making a right and the other car had right of way. I'm at fault and not covered. Although the insurance company did tell me that if the other driver was charged then I might get 50/50.

So maybe a little bit of good news, I called the officer who did the report... and the other driver was charged. He wouldn't tell me with what, but I have high hopes. Half is better then nothing.

Little bit of bad news, for some reason it will take 6-8 weeks for the insurance company to get the report from the police and any charges laid. In the meantime the eye sore is sitting in my driveway.

If it works out, I have my eyes on another 'stang. If I get nothing, then it looks like public transportation for a while.

Not cool man, but sounds like everybody is ok, and that's the most important thing. Hope everything works out, as far as insurance. Sorry to hear about the bad news bud.

Good to hear you weren't hurt, but for sure a sad story. When we love our cars so much, it hurts when they get hurt.
