Size matters!

I will soon be looking for summer tires. My summer wheels are a set of 17" rims that came off a 02 GT (so 17" x 8" size ? ). Stock size is of course 245/45/17, but what's the widest I can get on the wheel without looking stupid, completely messing up my odo/speedo or taking forever to sqeeze them on?

On a related note, anyone selling a good set of summer's in Nova Scotia?

I have a 2002 GT aswell and have 275/40/17 tires on the rear (stock rims 17x8) and it looks really good. heres a pic (dont mind the wheel gap)

tires

I have F1,s all the way around and the backs are 275/40/17. From the side looks good, but around back excellent. Stock 99 rims. :tup

Yes, the 275/40/17's look great on the back of both cars!

Confirm the fronts are 245/45/17? They look "equal" in profile in the pics, which is what I wanted.

tire size

My fronts are 255/45/17s. It took a while for me to get used to the 45s upfront and the 40s out back. In my twisted mind :banghead: the front profile was huge compared to the back, but I see many cars this way and now it does not bother me anymore. 3 trips to the head shrinker took care of this. :laughhard

When in doubt you can always use this tool
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

You'll notice that 245/45s and 275/40s have the exact same diameter and wont affect your speedo reading one bit :deal:

tire sizing

Thank you for info. I was quite often curious about this, mind you the car generally never travels faster than 40mph. :banghead: :banghead:
