Am I making a mistake?
I am rapidly approaching the time I will get my new convertible. I have been spending a lot of time on the various forums, particularly mustang6g as it has a dedicated convertible subforum. As such, they have scared the bejeezus out of me with an endless list of problems, including a/c troubles, convertible top fit problems, leaks, windows not lining up or closing properly, driveline vibrations, and a variety of issues with the Ecoboost engine. Do I need to worry? I have no intention of hammering the car, at 55 I'm beyond hooning it up and just wanted a nice cruiser for my wife and I. It's not too late to pull the plug and go elsewhere (although where, I don't know). I figure my fellow Canadians here will be the voice of reason. Thoughts are appreciated.

Don't get too hung up on all the drama on the US site, anyone who has even the slightest discontent or problem chirps about it, I'm guessing they make up less than 5% of the ownership. You never hear from the 95% of the owners that are happy, because human nature shows that happy people don't go out and tell the world how happy they are with their car that works just fine. But, the keyboard cowboys are more than happy to get on the forums and vent their outrage over whatever problem they have, no matter how small.
I'm not saying you can't find legitimate concerns on forums, but deal with them as they come. Here's an example - the US forum was all ablaze with the oil cooler line recall on the GT350, you'd think the next time you fired it up the engine would expire. I drove mine with no issues, kept an eye on the level, and got the warranty work done when the parts were available. No harm, no foul. Second point - the US forum is also ablaze with keyboard cowboys screaming about the GT350 rear bumper cover sag and the panel gaps. Holy crap, theres been talk of lawsuits and such against Ford, cries of outrage and wails of how they're so hard done by. Have I got gaps? Yup. I talked to my parts guy about the TSB, and when the kit comes in, the work is done under warranty. Hey, guess what? No screaming, no wailing, but it sure is fun to read the replies from some of the more.....um....excitable owners south of the border.
My car is awesome, I enjoy it as often as possible, and have no regrets, despite a couple of small issues.
I'm only a few years younger than you, agreed with no hooning, you did the right thing, opinions here are much more balanced, depending on who you ask. Go for it.

Well, I started out looking for something old, as I am no stranger to that hobby. I had set a budget of about $15K and looked at a bunch of cars. Then I wondered why I would spend all that money on something that I might put 1000 miles on per year. Since I need a daily driver still I finally decided, about 2 years ago, that I would combine the funds that I would be spending on a new daily driver and something old and buy myself something nice to drive and enjoy every day, which is how I arrived at the Mustang. To be honest, I was pretty much set on a Challenger SXT Plus (V6 without GDI, so no carbon issues for the intake valves) with a sunroof until I started reading that they have rust issues in the dogleg ahead of the rear wheels because FCA blows expanding foam into that cavity and the rocker panels and blocks the drain holes, and consequently you can’t spray with Krown or similar because of it.
