Step 1 of 4 done!

Well, been motivating myself to get the GT on the road after letting it sit for two seasons.
I started off by waxing it last week, then yesterday I pulled the wheels off, and detailed them. I think now I want to drive it. LOL

So the steps I need to get it back on the road.

1. Have the rear o2's turned on in my tune. As of today, done!! Got the new tune file in my email today in which Steeda.ca had to turn on my o2's in my custom tune. So it's now in my GT's computer.
Reason why, fn E test.

2. Insurance. I'm debating on a collector insurance like Hagerty, or keep it with my current insurer. Then get some miles on it to get the drive cycle done. It has fire, and theft, but that won't do. LOL

3. E test providing my highflow cats in my Bassani x pipe don't throw a check engine light before hand after the drive cycle is done (reason why most tuners turn off the rear o2's because of the history of highflow cats). I'm hoping they won't as they are the redesigned versions, because they had issues with the earlier versions a few years or so back.

4. Then sticker!!!

It's great to hear that you are interested again!

Autonut 05-20-2015 02:10 AM

You'll have to post some fresh pictures of the Mustang and the work you have done.

Apocalypse Pony 05-20-2015 03:22 AM

Good therapy for the soul, get behind the wheel and DRIVE! Awesome.

1low03gt 05-20-2015 07:44 PM

I'm looking forward to driving it again. That feeling is some what there. So that's a start.
And AP, you're right.... I think this will help keep me clear.

Once it's the GT is in the wild again, i will snap some new pics.

I will take a vid when I start it next time. Maybe this weekend hopefully.

My car came from ontario and was etested there with the rear O2 sensors turned off and passed

1low03gt 05-25-2015 07:29 PM

Interesting. Wonder how? When was that? I was told if one was "off" I would be ok, but with two, it would fail. I really don't know what to expect as this is the first time the GT is getting tested under the "new" way since the change of the sniffer to the computer OBDII port.

Either way, they are turned on now. Just time will tell if the engine light will go off before the test.

azuremach 05-25-2015 07:55 PM

I think it was a year or two ago,it was the obd port that they used and it passed

1low03gt 05-25-2015 08:24 PM

Good to know if thats the case.

roddy 05-26-2015 05:11 PM

You're allowed one "not ready" in Ontario, IIRC. I expected one for my rear two O2 sensors, but got an EGR instead. Still passed.

1low03gt 05-26-2015 07:27 PM

Interesting!

1low03gt 06-14-2015 08:24 PM

Alrighty, update....

Step 2 done. Full insurance coverage is on the GT.

So after loading my custom updated tune with that has the rear O2's turned back on, it pulled a check engine light.

P1152
Lack of ho2s-21
switches-sensor
indicates rich
(b2,s1)
I jacked the car up, pulled the diverside front O2 out, and it looked ok, checked the connector, it too looked ok. As I got thinking... my GT has been running a little rich, and stunk rich after putting the JLT cai in a summer after I had the GT tuned a few years back, but I fully intended to get it retuned with the JLT in place, just never happenned. So moving forward, I made sure the O2 was nice, and tight, and checked the Xpipe at the manifold to make sure it was nice, tight, and sealed. Then I let the GT down, and took out the JLT cai, and re installed the oem factory '01 Bullitt inlet tube, and stock air box with K&N drop in filter since that is how it was tuned. I then cleared the computer, restarted it, and it was crisp, smooth as it could be being cammed, and didn't burn my eyes out, or stink up my close LOL! I managed to get 164 kilometers over the weekend with no check engine light so far. Knock on wood.
Gonna call my buddy at the dealership to book an appointment to etest the GT for sometime by the end of this week this way I can get a few more k's on the GT just incase before hand.
After seeing a check engine light, it makes me paranoid cause I just want to get this done, and over in one shot cause of the limited time I have to fart around with a car.

Stay tuned for step 3, and wish me luck. :)

ChadStang 06-14-2015 09:55 PM

Great to hear you moving forward.

def67 06-15-2015 12:28 AM

Good news!

Apocalypse Pony 06-15-2015 03:28 AM

Congrats, seat time = good time.

Autonut 06-15-2015 05:36 AM

Have no worries, You are doing all the right things and it's a Mustang. It will pass with flying colours. :tup

Ray Spencer 06-15-2015 08:15 AM

After all is said and done you will be happy to get it on the road and let her rip.

car_designer 06-15-2015 08:37 PM

Glad to hear it's back on the road!

1low03gt 06-15-2015 09:36 PM

Thanks fellas! Looking forward to drive more often for sure. The twins got excited when I told them.
As of tonight, E test has been booked for this week. Yap, that's another step forward. :D

1low03gt 06-17-2015 07:50 PM

Step 3.... the E test is now complete. The GT has passed it's exam with no DTC's, and is ready to be stickered. :tup
So Friday after work I will complete step 4 by getting the sticker. Now I can officially enjoy the GT once again.

Getting close, must be exciting.

1low03gt 06-21-2015 09:30 PM

Step 4 is complete. The GT is now stickered for the year. The twins (my son & daughter) can't get enough of the GT right now LOL!

Autonut 06-21-2015 09:33 PM

That's great news. How's it running?

def67 06-21-2015 10:38 PM

Good news, go burn some rubber!

Apocalypse Pony 06-22-2015 03:32 AM

Yah, time to paint some 11's on the road !! Just make sure Officer Friendly isn't around to impound your ride, unless you get snagged by the officer that caught Bill doing 50+ km/hr over and let him go with a smile and a wave. ha ha Nice to be able to be selective like that, and only enforce the laws when you want.

1low03gt 06-22-2015 07:33 PM

The GT is running very well. No complaints.... knock on wood LOL!
I have left a set of 11's here, and there while shifting threw second! No worries there. Just like riding a bicycle! :D

car_designer 06-22-2015 09:04 PM

Great to hear you're enjoying it!

1low03gt 06-23-2015 08:10 PM

For sure I am!! Thank you. :)
I think having two seasons away from it helped in a few ways. I'm not being super by keeping it super detailed after every drive like I was once. That was getting old near the end of the last few years of driving it before I decided to park it..... And second, I don't feel the need to mod it anymore. I just want to drive it! I use to look on line constantly for something new to do to it, it was an obsession almost..... which was feeling old too after awhile, especially after toying, and detailing my hot rods since my late teens, I just never stopped.
It's just nice to open the garage door, start the GT, and row threw the gears for a nice cruise. That's the point I'm now at with it, and this is what I was always looking forward to as I got older. So I think I have found peace finally LOL!
But..... There is a few mods I need to do, one is to swap out my drag struts for street friendly adjustable struts, and to upgrade the damn front brakes. Man I forgot how crappy these models where with braking, always hated it since day one. My 08 F150 brakes feel, and work way better!!! So the GT is going to get an upgrade in due time!
