Thoughts on Synthetic Trans fluid??
I want to change the fluid in my t-5, right now I am using what for specs.
What are some of your thoughts about going synthetic in the trans?? I am think about using Royal Purple, since I use there motor oil and love it. Thanks |
I used Redline synthetic in both my Toploader and then in the T5 I put in. I never had any problems.
I now have a TKO600 and I am using GM Syncromesh, which is what Tremec recommends. |
I have used royal purple and have absolutely no problems , it was recommended after a rebuild a couple of years ago.

I have done so much research on motor and driveline fluids, that it just about makes me sick! Anyway, after all my findings this is what I would suggest:
Motor = Amsoil. There have been several independant tests on several synthetic oils, and this always comes out either on top, with the exception of a couple tests, where it comes in second to best. Trans = For auto I would again go with Asoil, and for manual I would say RP or Amsoil. Rear End = Amsoil, Royal Purple or Red Line are all good choices, but my choice is Amsoil, and I always add friction modifier additive. :tup |
I am a big fan of the good stuff
|
What most recommend on the world wide web is the GM syncromesh stuff for the T-5.Suppost to help the longtivity of the syncro's,and aid for smooth shifts!

^^^huh brand X stuff lol

Yap,brand X stuff.
Every GM needs a little Ford, and every Ford needs a little GM now,and then. I know......Sounds weird!! :bleh: But this time round,GM has something good for Ford.:? |
royal purple is one of the best u can buy but i would say only but it if u really need it its a hell of a lot more money but its worth it if u want to use it.
