Tire help

looking for 18" tires - 295/35/18 for back and 265/35/18 for front.

i dont want the most expensive tire, but i want something that looks really good and mean, and also performs pretty well too.

i was looking into the
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2
Kumho ECSTA MX
Yokohama AVS Sport

can anyone say anything good and bad about those tires. or recommend anything else?

thanks

i have only heard good stuff about kumho.
but stay away from the yokohama's, that is what i am running, and i cant get any traction. :banghead:

Went to price out tires today and i was told. that
265-35-18 will not fit on the car with my 18X9 rim
and 295-35-18 will not fit the car with my 18X10 rim..

i heard Saleen came with these tires sizes stock.

can someone give me peace of mind that these WILL fit with no problems atall. and look good too. lol

thanks

Mattch2 03-04-2006 09:58 PM

yes they do fit.. I have that exact setup on mine!!!

GT281 03-05-2006 12:04 AM

I have 712's on my car, I give them 7 out of 10 for wet pavement
8 out of 10 in dry cornering, 6 out of 10 straight line traction.
2 out of 10 in reverse any road surface condition... lol

if you can swing it i got my nitto 555's on the stang for 200 bucks each.

If you want traction and are going to the track get a Drag radial for the back...
otherwise the Firestone Wideoval are a decent tire for the price and they do make a 18's

225/40R18
295/35R18

03WhiteGT 03-05-2006 01:48 PM

Kumho's are great. I'd go with them if you can

They are a hard compund tire though..I had them on the FSVT and found the ride to be quite stiff..I opted for the Fuzions once they wore out..but I dont see them listed on Firestones Canadian page anymore.

I have fusions on my car right now..not super impressed with them, but they arent too bad!

are there any other recommendations other than Nitto 555's

The M/T streets are 10X better then the Nittos for traction at the strip, but the Nitto's are better for everyday driving.

spidartanks 03-06-2006 11:23 AM

i will be looking into a street tire more than track.
For the track i will have some slicks to throw on my 17's

BIZ 03-06-2006 02:28 PM

then stay away from the Nittos...if you get caught in the rain your screwed..others on this board will agree :tup
If you can drive your car without seeing rain..then you'd be ok.

have you ever run the nitto's at the track and warn them down from burnouts...I know a few guys who almost ditched their cars from Nitto's in the rain...not as bad as the M/T's but still horrible for hydro planing.
you have the 555's?

you are talkin 555r's im talkin 555's the r's are for track use and the others are for street. and i must point out, tires is very general, just becuase someone is talkin tires doesnt mean they HAVE to be good at the track nor do they need to have anything to do with racing.
