What the heck is this?
|
Total guess, but it looks a bit like a ceramic ballast resistor for an old-style ignition setup. What's the year & model?
|
97 Cobra, I'll check the harness tomorrow...
|
Ford uses that style of resistor for the cooling fan sometimes, but I don't recall that on a Mustang.
Are there any I.D. numbers stamped on it? If so, I might be able to work from that. cheers Ed N. |
Bracket: F6ZU-90360-AB
White thing: IRC 9702 F6ZU-90358-AA Thanks Ed |
Could the "0" in the middle of those two numbers be something else, a "D", or another letter?
Generally when the number is structured like that, it will have a number, a letter, then 3 numbers ... 9D360 maybe? thx, Ed N. |
Yes, I think it's a D. When I tried a search on F6ZU 9D*, which will give me everything that starts with that I.D., I got a fuel pump resistor and bracket that mounts up in the inner fender as you have in the photo, service part number F6ZZ 9D360 AA.
Do you need a replacement, or are you just curious as to what it is? cheers Ed N. |

Looks like they didn't start that until 1996 on the Mustang, with the modular engines.
17 years of being a Ford parts guy teaches one to be creative when trying to find info in the catalogue. :2: cheers Ed N. |
