Wheel Identification
 

Hello once again, friends. I have a set of wheels I like, but the rears are missing their center caps. I was wondering if anyone can identify these wheels? Or if anyone knows where I could get them identified, or find out myself on the wheels, et cetera. These photos aren't great - taken from other pictures - but if anyone recognizes these, and knows where I can find caps, or what the rims are, or anything - tell me! :tup
Images on the right are front wheels, on the left are the rear wheels. They are alloy rims. And that is all I know.:confused:

I think they are "Fenton" brand wheels, and i havent seen a set of those since the 70's. I don't believe they are in business anymore..... I think EBay or swap meets is your best bet on centre caps. Hope it helps.

That sounds like a great guess - those wheels were on a 1972 Mustang parts car I had. I'll see what I can dig up. Thanks a lot!

Several companies offered the "slot" mags over the years. I'd say to measure the diameter of the centre hole, chances are that you can get some plain chrome push-through caps that will fit from a speed shop or wheel & tire store.

good advice Ed, and nice to see you over here, and posting, you always have some good info.

I'll tell you from an old set of knock off centerlines that I had, the advice that Ed gave is gonna be your best bet.
you can even check online like american racing, etc, and once you know your center, you can see if they have anything.
I have an old cap at the shop, but I don't remember what brand it is. You shouldn't have too hard of a time finding one.
Either that, or, bring it to a machine shop, or, drill and tap the wheels for the a/r center cap that you have on the one now!
(although a push in would be much easier.

If you get me the centger, I have access to a couple catalouges, I could search for you.

Good advice indeed. Turns out they aren't Fenton wheels - they are Ansen Automotive wheels, according to a stamp on the back of them. This site helped me figure it out. Neat stuff. Classic racing wheels
Anyways, Ed and Mike, that sounds like a plan. Although I'd definitely rather try to find some caps that happen to fit, than have to machine the wheels themselves.
I'll keep researching Ansen, and measure the diameters tomorrow.

measuring will be your best bet. Again search around on american racing and such, and i'm sure you'll be able to find a press in cap.
Definatly the cheaper way forsure.

Mike, I was measuring the center cap gap and noticed that there were screw holes for the cap. Figured it'd be worth mentioning. The center hole diameter was 7.5 inches. Does that sound reasonable? That website is a repro of the wheels, but I believe it is correct.

center bore of 7.5 inch's???? umm......somthing doesn't seem right with that at all!!!!

Thats measuring across the hole, or measuring the complete inside???

how bout 7.5 mm???

which would be just a touch over 3" which would sound right.
I just measured a cheviot cap I have here, and thats what it is.
