California Special

Hi guys

I have a stock 1968 California Special that is original.

I am presently looking for a 1984-86 AOD for my Mustang powered 1938 Ford Coupe. Can I use a newer transmission with electronics?

If you are AOD shopping, a later version would be better, the lubrication was improved on the 88-up units. If you are going to run it with a carbed engine, you need to use an aftermarket throttle valve cable, Lokar and other companies offer them.

The electronic version would be the AODE or 4R70W. Those trannies can be used in early non-electronic vehicles with something like a stand-alone controller from Baumann Electronic Controls.

cheers
