Eyeing a 'stang for a while now...

Hello everyone,

I've been looking to purchase a V6 stang manual, base vehicle for a while now but haven't found one for a good price yet.

Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for your mustang and where? I live in Toronto and would be willing to drive a little further if there's a dealership with good price. I was hoping to get one that's a year old with some mileage on it to bring down price to around $18 - 19K.

Cheers,
Cy

Hi cdnballer, enjoy your stay :)

cdnballer 11-21-2011 01:46 PM

Thanks! This is a great forum for sure.

there are the usual places you can check like Auto Trader Kijji ebay etc. I have no experience with the 6'ers but good luck with the hunt

Welcome cdnballer. Nothing wrong with a V6 Mustang...that's what I drive. 2011 and up have the 305 HP 3.7/6spd, while '05-'10 have the 210 HP 4.0/5spd. The new ones have actually come down in price by close to 10% since I bought mine in '07. Back then, I paid $24018 for a base V6 manual. Now you can buy a base car for under $22k. Hang on a little longer and some low mileage '11s might start popping up soon, or, consider a 2010. The 4.0 is a solid engine, and responds well to modifications, if that's your thing.

Welcome aboard. Good luck with your search. :tup

Thx everyone, appreciate it. Hopefully I'll find one soon!

Welcome to the site dude, something should pop up sooner or later, god knows they're selling tons of them !! (which is a good thing of course)

I hate to say it but I have seen Mustangs on Honda and Hyundai Lots in Edmonton. So it might be an idea to walk through dealership lots in their used car section to find a gem in the rough.

cdnballer 11-22-2011 09:48 AM

There's a used 2011 stang, 19,500 km's on it via dealership. They're asking for $20,800, which I thought was quite high (I was expecting about $19,000 or so).

Is $20,800 a fair price? They claim car's in good condition (no accidents etc).

Ray Spencer 11-22-2011 04:35 PM

I'd say the retail price is reasonable but you probably could make them a lower offer and see if they would take it. You can be sure that they never gave the former owner $20.800.00 for it. Make them an offer of $18500.00 and see if they bite.

cdnballer 11-23-2011 08:04 AM

That's what I offered, they said they paid $19,800 for it, which I find hard to believe.

SNAKEBITE 11-28-2011 05:40 PM

yeah me to. I suspect they paid approximately 16k tops

Welcome cdnballer, I think Snakebite may be close at 16 ^^^ Never be afraid to lowball a dealer, you can't hurt their feelings ....... they have none.

^^^^^ Present company excepted ... for sure:wink:

SNAKEBITE 12-08-2011 02:34 PM

^^^^bwah nice on. I do believe generally dealers make a higher % on used over new, exceptions apply of coarse.

VAEM 12-11-2011 04:49 AM

Welcome to CMOC. Good luck with the search!

SNAKEBITE 12-11-2011 09:30 PM

waiting for Chad to deny or agree lol

ChadStang 12-11-2011 10:28 PM

^ it all just depends on the vehicle.

SNAKEBITE 12-12-2011 01:59 AM

that's what I figured i.e. big % made on trucks/SUV's etc

ChadStang 12-12-2011 09:44 AM

^ it's more about condition, mileage, and rarity. Even when it comes to expensive vehicles, if there are lots out there the price goes down. The car business has gotten pretty competitive and profits aren't the best so we need to work on volume.

Speaking of rarity......How does a person go about finding out how many cars of a particular year, model and color were produced. When I had the 2010 I couldn't find numbers on it, so I'm guessing I'll have an even harder time with the 2012. Any ideas or suggestions?:?

These guys from 1955-1989. If you get in touch with them they may be able to tell you who can give you the info for anything newer. I remember hearing that you could call Ford Customer Assistance and they could give you that info but I'm not sure if that's true or not. Being that they are just balancing out production on the 2012 now I don't think that info will be available for a while.

DublDee 12-12-2011 02:37 PM

Thanks ChadStang, appreciate it!
