happy owner with minor issues

Hi Guys
bought my 88 last year its awesome n feels great to have 1 :tup

while cruising around in summer time my car sometimes shuts down in the middle of road and it sounds like its missing on fuel, i changed the fuel filter, changed the fuel pump, changed distributor module, still feels like its going to happen when in summer car gets hot doe to engine heat and weather but when it cools down it starts back on and if you wondering what it sounds like when it shuts of its ( bhap bhap bhap bhap and boom shuts off and when i start back it starts but when i accelerate it does that bhap bhap thing again and goes back off until it cools down. Relay is the last thing to me or clean the fuel tank or change fuel lines? any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the site.

What you are describing sounds the same as when a car has a faulty coil pack. Usually dies when hot and only restarts when it cools down and the cycle continues.

Did you check the ignition coil?

Agreed with above comment!Worth a check.

Welcome aboard!!

Welcome to CMOC.ca!

Deffinatly sounds like a spark problem...
Have you checked/replaced your cap and rotor yet? as mentioned above it could also be your single coil!
This is were "I" would start, let us know when you have changed this and what has happened.
Thanks for joining :)

no i havent touched ignition coil yet i might have to, i have changed distributor module and other stuff like fuel pump and fuel filter thought it could be faulty and not creating fuel pressure. I was going to change the relay but as you guys said to check ignition coil i will do that first and see how it goes. Thanks all of you for your help i will get back to you.

Have you by any chance checked the plugs,...... Before you go and spend alot of money,.... check to see if they`re coated with oil(fouled),.... probrably not,.. but check them first,.... easy to do and cheap to replace.

Oh,.... and WELCOME!!

i had older 302 engine which was almost dead, had the same issue and i replaced it with 1992 302 which had fairly new spark plugs so i believe spark plugs are not whats causing it, i read couple of other forums with people havin similar issue and most of them bettin on ignition coil or stator but i got my distributor module changed its brand new and i din drive it too much last summer but this summer i will be drivin so if issue occurs i know what to look at.
Thanks
