I have returned ... to Mustang!

Hi everyone!

I have just ordered a 2011 Convertible GT and I will surely be looking forward to some fun after a few years of practical sedans....

Back in the early '90s I did have a 5.0 LX hatch that was painted in the worst colour ever - the unmarked cop-car beige. I mean - creamy gross beige. The kind of colour a Fairmont should be.

Why would I buy such a colour? Well - it was used - and discounted way down - purely for the colour. My plan was to repaint her red at some point, but money was tight back then, so it never happened.

Family matters forced the move to sedans (oh I fought against the minivan, trust me) but now it's back to V8 power and the beauty of rear wheel drive.

For what it's worth, when travelling in the states, people would often move out of my way for no apparent reason - until I saw all the unmarked beige 'stangs!

I doubt that will happen with the 'vert :)

Thanks for the welcomes. I was just informed that the car has arrived at the dealer. I will try to post some pics soon. Can't wait to hear that 5.0!

Do you pick it up today or Monday?

Welcome to the site - love those new 5.0's. I wouldn't have been too concerned with the beige colour of your old LX - bottem line was that one way or another, folks would be seeing your tail lights, whether they were moving over, or getting passed !! ha ha ha ha Fighting the minivan is like trying to bail water in a boat with a big hole punched in the side - you might think you're winning, but eventually you're going down no matter what you do !!! Congratulations on getting your head above water with the new 5.0 lol

Got it Wednesday - in the rain - sigh.

Got a few pics but - they're quick and dirty 'cuz I've just been so busy this week.
Hope to wash her / wax her and get into some nice backdrops to take better pics.

I've never taken a picture of an engine before! Holy cats, it's gorgeous :)

Certainly not lacking for power, that's for sure. The seats IMO could use some better side bolstering, but they are not uncomfortable.

Still getting used to the way it handles - after FWD for years, I'm not used to the rear end breaking loose on me.

Have to get out to some secluded pavement some time and see what the limits are - last thing I want to do is fishtail into traffic!

Smart idea - I remember one of the first time's I decided to give my GT a little gas when making a left turn - I expected the fishtail, but when I corrected, I got an un-expected snap back in the opposite direction.

Nothing dangerous or wildly out of control mind you, but it surprised me a bit. Keep an eye out for cruisers though - don't think cops are very understanding about those sorts of things, so secluded is definitely the word.

Great looking car man - like it.
