Intro - John McKean - Toronto
I'm a retired Electronics Engineer living in Toronto Canada. I was 21 years old when the 1970 Boss 302 Mustang came out. My racing buddy (we raced motorcycles) bought the first one in Canada. He let me drive it and I couldn't believe the power and handling of it.
I just ordered a 2005 Mustang GT Coupe in Sonic (dark) Blue with Bullit wheels. I should get it in early May. I plan to add a sunroof and white Shelby "LeMans" stripes.
It's my second Mustang. I had a 1976 model - basically a four cylinder Pinto. My wife thought it was cute. After three years of the Mustang we went to two cars. I bought a 1979 Trans-Am and she bought a Buick Skylark.
After the TA, I bought a 1984 Le Sabre (company car plan) and shortly after added a 1967 Shelby 427 AC Cobra Kit car. The shop doing the engine for the Cobra (406 Small-block Chevy - sorry Ford fans!) gave me a good deal on a 490 HP 455 tractor-pull engine a customer had cancelled. It fit the LeSabre easily but melted the tranny real fast. I swapped it for a race-built T400 and never had a problem after that. Boy, I have some neat stories about that car - what a sleeper!
After the Buick came a bunch of boring cars - two Safaris, a Caddy, two Camaros and a 1994 Impala SS that was stolen about ten days after it was rumored that Dale Jr. drove one. Over 80% of all the Impala SS's in Toronto were stolen in that eight month period.
I currently drive a 2004 Subaru WRX. It's an automatic so I can pass it on to my wife when the Mustang comes in. Note to potential Subaru buyers - do not get an automatic! Until the turbo kicks in you'll be a sitting duck for any hot foot Prius driver.
