Mustang fever

My first Mustang was a '94 GT convertible - which was promptly appropriated by my son and I seldom had a chance to drive it. My second Mustang is the 1989 GT convertible that I purchased last month from "stangboy11" (see thread in "For Sale") - and my son isn't getting anywhere NEAR it!

I've been looking, off and on, for a Fox body vert for the last 3 years or so. I actually wanted a 1993, but someone I met in a parking lot here in TO pointed me to this forum and that's where I saw the 1989 being offered by "stangboy11". What sold me on the car - before I even had a chance to see it - was a comment he made in his last post regarding the attitude of the people who had come by to see the car. Just from a couple of words in that post I knew that I'd be OK dealing with this guy - and my hunch turned out 101% correct. :tup

All I've done so far is to have the roof reskinned - mainly so that my family wouldn't make any disparaging remarks when I brought it home!

I looked at a dozen other cars - many of them dead mint - but I just felt that _this_ was the one to go with. In the Spring I will have the two front seats redone, then the sound system, and after that - who knows? I prefer it to be as "stock" as possible - on the outside, anyway.

I've already owned all the exotics that most people lust after, which is the main reason I went back to a Mustang. If something goes wrong with it, any service station mechanic can probably at least get me mobile again (unless it's something serious). With some of the cars I've owned, the slightest mechanical problem required a large cheque and return airfare to a European country.

I have _no_ mechanical skills whatsoever (much to my father's dismay) so I'll be here on a regular basis asking some pretty naive and/or simple questions. I hope you'll bear with me. I'm a writer and a producer so I can at least hold up my end by occasionally keeping you entertained. Ciao4niao! PoliceDog.

Apparently, there is no real right or wrong here! Every body has their say.

Enjoy the ride! :tup

Thanks for the warm welcome - I knew this was the place to be after lurking here for the past two months. :)

I belong to a couple of other forums (fori?) where the response from senior members to most questions is: "Search!" or "RTFM!" (I do both, religiously)

I taught communications at Seneca College for a few years and the first thing I always told my class in September was: "There's no such thing as a stupid question, except for the one you don't ask. Someone else may have the same question as you do but they're too shy to put up their hand. So if YOU ask that question, you will have benefited TWO people."

But, seriously - I'm totally mechanically challenged. I never had any interest in fixing cars, just driving them! My sister, on the other hand, can rebuild a Holley 4-bb carburetor with her eyes closed.

WELCOME!!!
got any pictures of the new mustangs or past cars? :tup

PoliceDog 10-11-2005 12:44 PM

Pictures of *current* Mustang? Yes - for now, most of them are photos that "stangboy11" took when he listed the car.

Pictures of *previous* cars? The '94 GT - I'm not sure. I'll check. OTHER cars I've owned? LOL - how much bandwidth do you think this place can spare?

This is one of the photos that "stangboy11" posted before I purchased the car.

All I have done so far is to have the roof reskinned with new rear glass.
