New Cop in Town

Hi my name is Brad, I am 25 yr member of the RCMP posted at the Police Driving Unit at RCMP Depot Training Academy. I have 3 SSP mustangs orignally all from BC. 1- 1991 X RCMP -LX 5 speed which I got last year. I just acquired 2- 1986 x RCMP SSP - 5 speeds which have been parked for 15-20 yrs. I had them shipped by rail. I am beginning the restoration projects. I will need the assistance of your site, experience and knowledge of you guys/gals have on the Mustangs. Looking foward to learning alot. In the past I had a 1987 x Flordia Higway Patrol SSP and a 1991 Civilian Green LX coupe, both fun cars.
My daily driver is 03 Acura CL Type 5 and work car is the 07 Crown Vic of course. ( mostly sitting in the passengers seat now a days- LOL).

Welcome to the site dude - still remember being blown away by seeing those Fox bodies in police trim, pretty cool stuff, but not something you wanna see in the rearview. lol Had to be a pain in the ass for the officers to get in and out with all that gear on though. Good luck with the resto projects, don't be shy about posting up some pictures as you go along.

Welcome to CMOC.ca Brad! Would love to see some pictures of the Mustangs in the stable. We'll help you along the restoration path as much as we can - and live vicariously through you in the process!

you will also find a wealth of knowledge in the same format as this site at allfordmustangs and modded mustangs...the stickies at modded mustangs are absolutely amazing and all ford mustangs has a sask subforum...i was thinking of trying to get the sask sub forum members to get together for a tour in the spring and another mustangs in the convoy would be a welcome addition...especially a mustang cruizer...less chance of getting our convoy getting broken up....we will let you do the talking...there are some pretty good builders in this forum and they are Canadian so they are a bit nicer than some of them yanks in the other sites...welcome to the club

Ssp

SSP " Special Service Package " . It came out in 1982- to 1993 Mustangs. The Camaro had a SSP option as well coded B4C on the build sheets. The SSP changed from year to year and some other options were available as well. Additional Oil cooler, transmission coolers, re-inforced floor pan ( drivers side for fat cops or hard shifting) trunk release on the left side of the dash instead of inside the glove box. Single key for ignition/doors/ trunk. Life time silcone ( Blue ) hoses, certified 140 MPH speedo, radio delete, full size spare and a whole bunch more. Not much different to the drive train from stock that I know of, some people think there is.

I am still looking for the build sheets, but none so far. I have found buck tags on the rad support ( metal tags with instructions for the factory assembly line) for special instructions during assembly, paint & equipment.
