The new driver and cops story

Hey all, i am 17 and i have a mustang 05 v6 yellow striped black :)

this might not be the best place to ask , but i got pulled over this morning by cops and thay told me that i had to change my exhaust and they gave me a nice fine of 160$ -_-" i have a Flowmaster American Thunder Axle-Back Exhaust that i bought from tdot performance and it's not too loud, its because something is wrong inside... the cops was a complet idi** and he told me that i had bough crap from canadian tire... I want to know if it's legal, if anyone have documentation to prove it , i would like to have a lik, thanks you.

**he told me that anything that is different from the original one is not legal, it need to have the exact caracteristic, so i asked him why i would change for something identical and he got mad haha.

The regulations read in Quebec that the new exhaust cannot be any louder than the original.

You should check with the Quebec Traffic Safety Act Authorities and ask them what what the allowable decibel rating is. I have dual Magnaflows on my 2005 V6 and have no problem with the local police. If you have a traffic ticket agent that can represent you and challenge the ticket it might be worth the cash to put this idiot in his place. Geez for the lack of a condom...you had to deal with a cheese head.

thanks you for your reply, but it's not the noise, they said that it was a " high performance exhaust" and they inserted a stick inside to mesure someting... anyways they looked really ignorant and they told me that it was a crap from wall-mart . They just wanted to give me the damn ticket. xD

I'm guessing the stick was a decibel meter

Was going too say check the laws for your province as it is different from province to province, or state to state accross North America.

At the same token, they could been just wanting to hit quota's, or they were just harassing you.
I would check into it before i spend that 160 bucks.
Besides, your exhaust is stock, it's your mufflers that have been replaces if one wants to get technical. LOL

I'm sure the officers salary wasn't dependant on giving you a ticket. Most Canadian provinces depend on the wordings found in Federal laws. The comment already given to you was correct ~ if it was louder than from the factory you have modified it and it no longer complies. Try keeping your foot out of it in populated places and you probably get away with it. Pay your ticker and consider it a lesson in life

What he said. There's only one side to the story here, got no idea how you were driving when you caught the attention of the po-po, obviously you drew some attention to yourself. Smile and wave.
