Good day fellow Mustang owners!

Introduction? Sure!

I'm the proud new owner of a 2017 Ford Mustang GT Convertible - California Special. She's white with black California Special rims, black top, black interior. This is the first Mustang I've owned (actually co-owned, as my better half wanted in on the fun as well). Closed the deal & drove it home on August 3rd. We promptly put 1200km on it within the first week of ownership! :-D

The downside - it's an automatic, and at first I wasn't keen on the colour. However, both have grown on me. I chose this particular car because we wanted a convertible, and Ford has good deals at this time on remaining 2017 stock. There aren't many 2017 Mustang GT models left, so we had to either chose from what was available & get a sweet discount, or put in an order & wait for a 2018 model to show up. We decided to take advantage of the deal on a car still left on the lot. Purchased it from Grogan Ford - a couple of hours away from where I live. We received further discounts from this dealer because they're "in the country" and wanted it off their lot. Definitely recommend this dealer - their staff is very courteous, and very accommodating.

Me? Well, most forums I've visited tend to draw a younger crowd. I'm not exactly old, but certainly not young. I'm a car guy, and this is car #5 that we have in the driveway & garage. I'm also into vintage motorcycles, and own two of those. While this is my first Mustang, it isn't my first Ford. I once owned a 1985 Crown Vic. I've owned a wide range of cars (VW, Volvo, Honda to name a few) and have mostly owned Hondas in the past (owned a Prelude, a CRX, a couple of Odyssey vans, and several Accords). I would have picked up another Accord Coupe, but for 2018 Honda has dropped the V6, and the have dropped the Coupe. Everyone seems to own a Civic, and while they are fun, I always found the Accord V6 with manual 6-speed to best fit the fun & practical characteristics. But, now a proud owner of a Mustang. Love the look of the 2015-2017 generation, and Ford seems to have done some top-notch stuff with the fit & finish on the vehicle. It's not perfect, but then what car is? Handling is incredible - this isn't the typical Mustang from the past - and I've driven a bunch of those. I'm old enough to have driven the much unloved Mustang II from back in the day.

More about me: True car guy. I do my own wrenching. I love it, though the newer cars are usually so reliable this isn't much of a thing anymore. I tend to help others when they ask questions, and don't mind lending a hand. This carries over into the vintage motorcycle stuff I am involved with. Everyone is learning, and there's never any harm in asking or assisting.

Did I mention I'm quite verbose? Perhaps the length of this introductory message speaks for itself. Aside from loving & collecting cars & motorcycles as a hobby, I'm a computer tech by trade. This knowledge certainly proves invaluable with the newer vehicles. I'm relatively laid-back, and easy-going. Refuse to get involved with "My car is better than your car" wars, and similar topics. We all enjoy cars for our own personal reasons, and manufacturers sell over 200 different types of vehicles for a reason. I can appreciate just about any ride, with an exception or two (I will never understand the "stance" thing that ruins perfectly good cars). I've loved cars all my life, and many different cars appeal to me. If I had a silver spoon in my mouth, I'd own far more cars than I have now, and they'd be all different types.

What do I currently own? Glad you asked! I currently own the following:

2 (two) 1985 Pontiac Fieros (one isn't on my property, the other sports a 305 V8)
1987 Pontiac Fiero GT (great looker, runs well, but frame is shot - it will be departing soon)
2005 Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe with 6-speed manual. This beast remains as my daily driver.
1981 Honda CX500
1982 Honda GL500 Silverwing (Interstate model)

My better half has just one car, and one motorcycle (lightweight!). :-) She owns a 2016 Ford Edge, and a 2015 Honda CBR300.

Intentions for the Mustang is to be a fair-weather cruiser. She'll be parked in the garage when the nasty weather arrives. However, it won't be a garage queen. Cars are meant to be driven. I'll keep it in the best condition possible, but it won't be one of those with only a few miles on the odometer still sporting the original plastic covers on the seats.

So, that's me! Originally came here to find out a few things about my Mustang. Admittedly, I've been having so much fun driving the car, I haven't once opened the owner's manual. I do have a question - is it normal for the radio to "cut-out" or be momentarily interrupted on convertible models when the roof latch is released or locked? Happens every single time without fail, which leads me to think there's a reason for it - I just can't logically figure out why (I know, RTFM!!). Does anyone have an answer? Perhaps it's best I ask in the tech area.

Sorry guys & gals - I know everyone loves pictures, but I have none to offer at this time (boring, I know!). I should probably dig up a few and put 'em up.

Thanks for having me, and thanks for your patience if you've read the entire message!

Thanks for the welcome! Ok, picture lovers - here's a couple of the new Mustang for now. I'll be taking better photos with a proper camera just as soon as I give it a bath.

Looks as though my first attempt at showing photos failed. Let's try this again...

Sorry, guys. Despite having a couple of photos available & shared on Dropbox, it doesn't seem as though they are being pulled down. Here are links instead...
