New Mustang Owner with shocking mileage result

OK... New Mustang Owner... Just bought a 2010 4.0 Liter V6 :chacha: and on $67 dollars of gas, I got 330 KM for the tank, is this normal :? LOL
it is uber fun to drive around town however :D
I should mention it is my first full tank, driven in town almost exclusively and in the cool weather. I made sure not to rev to have an idea of the consumption. :)

Welcome aboard. Don't base the mileage in your first tank. I know for me I have a tough time keeping my foot out of it for the first while on a new Mustang, or any Mustang for that matter lol.

Welcome to CMOC! My Mustang is a 5 liter 5 spd & I get close to 300-km per tank but that is when I drive it easy lol!

GrampsV6 03-12-2013 10:50 PM

OUCH!....that's only around 14 mpg....thats not a good for v6 under normal driving even around town.....my guess is that you should be getting almost a little less than double that around town.....I do not know what the 2010 is rated at (EPA results)......booting it off and on will suck up the gas.. Try taking it easy on your next tank full and see if there is a difference

I run about 500km per tank on the hi-way, with a 5.0.
My first few tanks of fuel went pretty fast. But i am very happy with it's fuel use now.
I had a 2.0 cobalt SS (turbo) the 5.0 gets better milage with my driving.

Mileage depends on a number of factors...such as how you drive it and any modifications. If you keep the speed to 100-110 km on the highway rather than 120-140 your will find that the gas mileage is fairly good. A noticeable gas improvement for my 2005 4.0 has been replacing the stock exhaust with a dual Magnaflow Catback System, MAC Cold Air Induction Kit and a Brenspeed Tune. On the highway I average according to the Mustang's computer 32-33 mpg.

Welcome to the site, I'm a newbie too. I agree with the other responders about your mileage, I wouldn't be too concerned about mileage numbers until you have put 3-5 thousand km on it and then you will see what your long term numbers will really be like.

you're not the first V6 owner I've heard having that type of problem. I also understand it's very different car to car, some get slightly better mileage than that, others are like WTF? The V8 actually is better value.

GrampsV6 03-13-2013 06:56 PM

With his car being a 2010 I am sure it has had a few tanks of gas through it that is why something seems out of wack for v6...his car is in the Boss mpg range with a heavy foot.....unless you've got a heavy foot?
Maybe it's the brand of gas your using? I assume your paying about $1.25 per liter and your using regular?

Welcome aboard, and congrats on your new toy!!
On your next fill up, drive it in normal driving fashion, i know it will be hard LOL, but that is the only way you will no if it is good or bad.
