Newbee here looking for help mostly

Hi everyone, great site and I hope to get some tips and assistance if available. I currently have an older 1992, 2 dr hatch, 2.3L. This car was bought from a friend and has well over 280,000 K on her. There are a few quirks that I am trying to iron out. I have a friend that mentioned the Master Air Sensor was not working and there was a lot of unburnt fuel going right out the exhaust which is in turn giving me lousy mileage. I tried looking for this part (apparently it is inline with the Air Filter connected to the main air intake) but can not find it mentioned. I did find a place that has an "Air Meter" for $75 and before driving the hour to get it was hoping it was the same thing. The other problems are easy fixes and I know what the problems are i.e. brakes and starter as well as a short somewhere in the Electronic door lock for the passenger switch and the switch on the passenger side for that power window. I also have a little trouble with the Automatic shifter in that I can not get it out of park when the engine is running. I have to turn the key part way, put it in N and then start it. Not sure why this actually works but for now It is working for me.

Anyway, if there are people out there that can offer suggestions and maybe parts places near Toronto, or Barrie it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Keith

i put a circle around your mass air flow sensor. they make a mass air flow sensor cleaner wich i would try first. its 20 bucks for a can of it. if they are dirty and not reading right they will tend to cause the car to run like a dog and go through fuel. i cant remeber the name of the stuff but your local parts store should have it. mass air flow cleaner. make sure when you remove it to not touch the end with anything as it will screw it up. just spray it with the cleaner a few times , toss it back in when its dry and give it a try. :tup

Ok that is what the other guys were calling the Master Air Sensor and the parts place was calling the Air Flow Meter. Are they the same thing?

And I only asked about the circle thing cause when I looked there was no pic. It is there now and Thanks Much.
