Hi Everyone, This is Joe. I just purchased the 2015 Gt premium with the performance package and 50 years appearance, Black coupe. I have to say.. what a machine. When I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy one it was to late to order from the factory. the only place that had what I wanted was 450 kms away in Hawkesbury, near Ottawa and unfortunately it was fully optioned, if I were able to order there were a few things at the time I would have left out.. I'm glad I didn't.
This will be a summer car only and will be stored in the winter, and I will try my hardest to keep out of the rain. QUESTION? What is recomended I do for rust protection Keeping in mind it wont see snow or salt ever> Some have told me use the electromagnetic gizmo, some say the undercoating which I feel may trap moisture, > Ive always just used plain oil spray on other other vehicles from Krown, Does anyone think this is a good Idea? Glad to be part of the club Joe |
Welcome aboard, and congrats on your new toy!!!
I say Krown it. Like what you plan, my 03 has not seen any snow, and only saw rainny days the first two summers since I had no garage at the time. I've only Krown'd my GT the first two summers, and to this day it is still nice, and oily, but not messy. No regrets here on doing it. Enjoy your new toy. |
Congrats. I am like you and only drive mine in the spring and summer. Mine never see the rain either. I don't bother rust proofing because its never wet!! only when I wash her

Southern Ontario has a lot more humidity than out here and that would be the main reason I would do just 1 round of krown on it.
Done. |

Welcome to the site.
Two words of advise "Paint Sealant." |
I think Krown is a little bit more than just an oil spray, but yah, even if you're not driving in the winter, drop $150 and get it shot with Krown or Rust Check. That electromagnetic gizmo is just that - a gizmo. Congrats on the new toy and welcome.

Welcome to CMOC. I had mine Krowned on the under carriage once only. Only seen a little winter when I take it and leave here for down south in March. I wash it good after I get down there, but that is another whole story. Seen rain only when I get caught in it and it's parked in the garage when not using it. My other two daily drivers have been Krowned. My 11 every year since new and the wife's 08 every year since new for the first 5 years and now every other year. Not a spot of rust anywhere. :tup
I merged the two threads so there wouldn't be duplicate threads. |

You can see it on some cars where the rust is coming from the back side of panels, or doors because they are not 100% protected from water, or moisture right from the factory. Just my 2 cents LOL It's cheap insurance in my opinion, even if you don't keep it. Better value for your car if it is sprayed, and truly rust free. |
