Need some tips

Ok, Friday will mark the first time at the track with my 5.0. I'll be running on 275/50/15 Nitto 555r's. What's the best way to launch with these? I've never been on a drag radial before

I was thinking of starting launching around 3500 and going up from there, to see the highest engine speed I can launch at while still maintaining grip.

5L with 3:73's, stock suspension, some minor mods... guessing around 240 at the wheels

Thanks :D

I would talk to Flynnt, cuz he runs DR's :thumb1:

hope you have subframe connestors..
i heard 5.0's (mainly foxbody) have a real bad problem for twisting...but i might be worng.
i would start lower and work your way up. every track will hook different.

but dont listen to me i have never ran them myself :1:

BTW what track are you going to be running at? :2:

Each car is different, air the Nittos down to about 15, and see how it works. Try walking the car out of the hole @ around 3500 RPM. And go from there, if it's not hooking, take some more air out, and find the right RPM to leave @ without breaking the tires loose too badly.

Every car is different.

Thanks so far.. how low can I go in terms of safe tire pressure if I need to lower it from 15?

btw, I do have subframes and I will be at Cayuga tomorrow :) Interested in coming out? I have no idea where Trenton so I don't know how far it is from you

Ah, never been to that one myself, I'm going in the opposite direction... maybe I'll plan for that way next time I come out !

Also thought I might as well ask in this thread.. regarding burnouts. Since it's a DR I'm thinking just a small burnout, but wet the tires or not? I thought that was only good for slicks, but I've seen them spray every Friday which is just a street car night :2:

Your car looks amazing with the new wheels, what ended up working the best for you a dry hop or burn out? :5:

Heya, didn't go so well D:

My best time was 14.3 with a 2.1 60 ft, and that launch was scary as hell

SO much wheel hop I couldn't even do a burnout. So I just made a bunch of passes with a small launch running around 14.6-14.7 with a 2.3 60 ft

It was a damn fun night but I'm disappointed I couldn't get the most out of my car... ah well

you probably removed the LCA's to fir the tires. You need a set of traction bard to remove the wheel hop.

when I get my butt down there and have some LCA's on the car I will let you try my slick and try and few 5500 RPM launches.
