clutch fork
 

I was just playing around in the garage because my car is not plated or insured yet to take it to work to check my clutch.
I just bought this car a couple weeks ago.(97 cobra) The clutch smells burnt after the car is driven a short distance. no slipping or anything. anyway, the previous owner just had a new clutch installed. he said the pedal was low (actually he said spongy), and all of a sudden he heard a snap, an the pedal came up.
i removed the clutch fork cover, and released the cable, and found that one of the springs on the clutch fork that look like they are supposed to ride in the groove on the release bearing, is outside of the groove. I wiggled the fork a bit. now both springs are out of the groove.
Can these springs be worked back into position without removing the tranny??
