Ford Mustang Increase Horse Power 2011
Announcement that Ford will be increasing the horsepower to 400 hp for 2011 with the new 5.0L engine. Good news as it tries to catch the horsepower of Camaro and Challenger.
That makes the 2010 at 315hp a dude as one year of model change and not increasing the power. Ford knew the other cars would have high horespower so why not let the 4.6 have 400 horse till the 5.0l was out. The performance of the 2010 Mustang w/ 4.6L @ 315 was very close to the other cars, imagine it with 400 horse. Even though the horse power is coming up the cars seem heavy in weight and are not producing great trapp speeds. Look back at 1994 with the Pontiac TransAm Firehawk and it would take all these cars in the trapp and in top end. |
There's only one reason why they don't make the 4.6 a 400-hp machine for one year. It's all about $$$. It would be little gain for them at a high cost. GM and Chrysler are going down the drain and Ford have been the only ones that haven't borrowed money from the government. Why would they add 85 hp(27 % increase in power) for one year? It would cost them huge money! They would have to change intake, exhaust, and prolly slap on a super or turbocharger to do a clean change. For one year?!

I gots"em covered. 78hp more than the Camaro and 75 more than the Dodge:biggrin: Oh it's a Mustang to boot of the GT 500 variety at the low low price of 49,100.00:tup

Sounds like it'll be a sick ride!

I have a friend that sells cars at a GM dealer. A new V6 camaro loaded if you can believe it is over 41000 before all the other BS. A V8 is well over 51000. And that folks is the reason that GM is going out of business. They are and always have been out to lunch. Providing crappy quality and a high price. I am happy that ford is bringing back the 5L as the motor is an icon. I believe the challenger and camaro's are at least 400-500 pounds more than a mustang which is why they have to have their power to get them to move down the track.

...oh, and the sales rep at our local chevy dealership said that there would be no negotiation because they are so new...honk !
|
so basically i cuuld get a better handling, stylish, and just as fast... FORD Mustang damn well ten g's cheaper than the competition.... not to mention a 5L would prob be better on gas than the big ass heavy engines they got:LOL:
But wow... epic fail on dodge and Gm's part...:suicide: |
cant wait to get a mustang of my own

Is the new 5.0L a Mod motor like the 4.6 ?
Anybody got any links to any info ? Thanks Muggzi |
I think for info will be released at some autoshow in december, try Ford Mustang Reviews, 2010, 2011 - Mustang Blog

ouu im so excited to see what happens! Would be pretty sweet if Ford brought back the 5.0L badge dont ya think? Very iconic to many people around the world. Also very interested to see what ford is planning for the next body style!

Ford wasted a perfectly good chance to trump the Challenger and Camaro by not rolling out the 400 horse 5.0 in the 2009 GT. I thought they would have done something a little more for the 45th Anniversary Mustang than just throw a set of badges on it.

The new 5.0 is a four valve mod motor according to all I have been able to learn. It is to be produced at the Essex Engine Plant and will be shared with the F 150.

You know what's scary...They Ford will probably only sell them in the USA beacuse they think sleds don't need all that power lolol The news is great, but we certainly don't need the new GT's to be priced out of the market like the GT500's (in Canada).

I'm being told by my Ford rep that the 5.0L is supposed to happen and that the 2011 should be released early in 2010. When it does happen I would only expect a marginal price increase.
