KYB AGX Shock and Strut
Hi all !!
I'm looking to replaced shocks and struts on my Cobra. Need something to match my eibach pro-kit. Any comments about KYB AGX?? or any suggestion?? |
Konis or Bilsteins are the best if your budget allows. Sometimes you can even find a good deal on some low mile original 03-04 Cobra Bilstein front struts, those would be perfect. For the rears you have to get the aftermarket Bilsteins because the IRS Cobra shocks don't work with the giant lamppost that you have for a rear axle on a pre-99. :D

Thanks ChadStang,
Yes I know, but I order there full lenght subframe connector a year ago and it cost an extra 89$ shipping and handling from UPS at delivery... |
DaSilva Racing in Pickering Ontario is a dealer for MM parts, you can go through them. Might be someone in PQ that is a dealer too.

Great price for that package. Better off spending a bit more than you would on KYBs, for a much superior product that will last the balance of the life of the car.

Don't these type of uppers create a problem for street driving or are they rubber? I would like to use the same panhard bar and lowers, but with a torque arm setup.
Plagiarized from MM: The best compromise between resistance to suspension bind, best control of axle position, best ride quality, and least potential damage to the chassis, is to retain rubber bushings in the rear upper control arms. This is especially important when adding a Panhard Bar. The compliance of a rubber-bushed upper control arm is required when a Panhard bar is added to the Mustang four-link suspension. The Mustang's rear suspension design forces the upper control arms to perform two jobs at once. They control the side-to-side position of the axle housing, while also preventing axle-housing rotation during acceleration and braking. The Mustang upper control arm design fails to perform either job well. This design causes binding of the rear suspension that not only leads to poor handling and traction problems, but also damages the upper control arm mounts on the chassis. A Torque-arm Suspension System replaces the troublesome upper control arms with a Torque-arm and Panhard Bar. This separates the two functions once performed by the upper arms. The Torque Arm controls axle housing rotation during acceleration and braking, and the Panhard Bar controls the side-to-side position of the axle housing. |
Hi Tony,
you need to remove the upper control arms with a torque-arm setup. Not in my case. Check MM Torque-arm FAQ: for more info. The Torque Arm: The best improvement for your solid axle Mustang Do I have to remove my upper control arms after installing a Torque-arm?
Hey Tony, nice motor setup ... how much hp/tq? |

My point was you should not use the uppers in your kit, you should stick with the stock ones.
Presently I am at 375 RWHp 372 RWTQ, just upgraded my fuel system and will be going up from there . |
Hi Tony, Wow nice setup !!
Why stick with the old upper control-arm. My plan is to replaced control arm with urethan bushing, and the differential bushing repladced with the original rubber. |
Rear suspension setup installed last saturday.
Installed need lower control-arm, panhard-bar, coil springs bushings. The differential bushings where in good shap so didn't replaced them. Hey Tony you were right about upper control-arm. I ask Maximum Motorsports about it. Here's the email reply: Fred- Thank you for contacting us. You will want to maintain rubber bushings on both ends of the upper control arms. Any other firmer bushings you put in there, will cause bind. The upper arms need to change length when the car goes into a roll. If you have stiffer material in there they can’t change to the correct length, causing bind. Sincerely, Brian Gust Maximum Motorsports, Inc. Nice, this is the setup I will eventually go with. Are you considering the torque arm ? How does it handle now with the pan hard ?
|
Hey Tony, it's awesome the differents, rest in a straight line on hard launch.
the torque arm required stiffer rear coil springs.... I don't know how it will affected daily driving confort. Intalled torque-arm on your car and let me know !! :tup |
