Lowering 2012 GT and shops in lower mainland?
 

Hi,

Thinking of wanting to lower my 2012 GT. I'm finding the wheel gaps too big. Car is a daily driver, never tracked. I currently have the 2012 Shelby GT500 wheels and tires on the car for the summer. (F255/40/19, R285/35/19).

It would basically be done for looks, and if possible for improved handling. To do this right, would i need just springs or other parts as well? I'd say no more than a 1.5" drop for the car.

Also, would anyone know of any recommended places/contact in the lower mainland area of BC for this work?

Not sure if you have the Brembo brake pack or not, but check this link out. Quite a difference in the pics, and looks great.

I can't recommend a place for your install but if you would like to check out my mods over the winter, it has some links and pictures.
I dropped 1.5", My Shelby handles like it's on rails it really is a dramatic change for the better, I highly recommend Tokico D-Spec shocks for there adjust ability and a set of camber/caster plates.. I went with poly bushings in all my control arms upper and lower for less noise, adjustable panhard bar will be needed to align the rear axle... BMR relocation brackets got great reviews and are really beefy! Springs I went with ford K series.

^^^ A GREAT setup. I have a similar one on my Mustang. Most guys will simply go with a set of springs, maybe shocks as well when lowering their Mustangs. Eibach makes a great set of lowering / performance springs for your car. As does Ford Racing. I am also running D-Spec shocks on my Mustang. I'd recommend them - you won't be dissappointed. You don't NEED them but they'll react much better to the new lowered stance of you Mustang compared to the stock units. Being that your lowering your car you may want to invest in a bumpsteer kit. Most live without it. All you REALLY NEED to do the job properly are new performance springs and an alignment. WHAT EVER YOU DO - DO NOT NOT NOT CUT YOUR EXISTING SPRINGS TO LOWER YOUR CAR.

Thanks. I'll be going with the FR K springs. Also, i'm looking into getting the dampers replaced as well to match the springs. Thinking might as well do it since the car's apart already. I'd hate to regret not doing the dampers, being unhappy with the new springs and stock shocks, then have to take the car apart again down the road to install better dampers.

No use making more work for yourself that's for sure. I remember going into Metro Ford in 06 and asking the question you put out there to the parts guy. He told me unless I am racing to save the money and just get the basics which kind of surprised me as I thought he would sell me everything including the kitchen sink lol
