rusted rad suport, common?

Question rusted rad suport, common?

this is my first mustang and im stoked , anyway im buying a 1998 3.8L auto for $1500 but the only reson it wont pass MVI is the rad support is gone is this a common thing in this gen mustang?

It's a pretty common thing for sure,if the stang was never oil guarded,this will happen as it is right in the way of all the crap from the roads like rain snow slush,salt,ects....Did you check the rest of the stang out.If that is rusted out what else is,frame rails near the strut towers,or the rear floor pan section where the gas tank is and also where the rear bumper support is bolted too.Then there is the A pillars,open the doors and take a good look at the pillars.These are the main rust areas of a stang.
But if it is just the rad craddle that is rusted out,then you can get another one have it spliced in so to speak.There is factory joints/sections where it can be cut out,and rewelded with a new/good used craddle.

Its a common thing in all mustangs. Especially if they seen winter.
