S197 shifter play

2005 GT
175,000km
5 gear manual

I was wondering if anyone else with any other type of short throw has abnormal side to side movement whilst the shifter is in gear. It seems to do it more when its in third, or in any forward position gear. Its not horribly bad, but it just bothers me and I was wondering if anyone has the same issue as me. I replaced the OEM with a Roush shifter yesterday. I ran up to D'Sousa in Milton and picked it up, they were the only one around with anything in stock. The OEM one always felt a bit loose, but seemed to get worse all of a sudden yesterday, and it felt like i was rowing a boat, and had to gently toss the shifter side to side to find 1st, 3rd, and 5th. In 5th, the shifter looked like its in 3rd. I replaced the OEM and there is still a considerable amount of side to side movement whilst in gear. Am I missing something? I can't seem to find a clear picture of what the rod or linkage looks like or is supposed to look like after it leaves the shifter arm.

It does shift considerable better, and she's finding every gear (except 2nd at high RPM, but thats a question for another time) but the side to side is just plain annoying.

any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

so, seeing as how no one here has the same problem, lol, i've found what I thinks is a solution. look at pic 1 and 3 in the fleabay listing:

2005 2010 Mustang GT V6 5 Speed Manual Bronze Transmission Shift Bushing Kit | eBay

that pivot point that attaches to the shift rod coming out of the transmission. This shouldn't be too bad to bang off on a mill. I may buy this kit though, but i'm trying to get better shipping out of them.

If the shifter suddenly got worse I can't see the bushings fixing it unless you find one that looks really bad. That being said it looks like a fairly inexpensive place to start.
