seized tire
i was putting on my snow tires and got to my rear passenger side tire and couldn't get it off seems like it was just stuck. tried hammering on it and still nothing. any suggestions so i don't have to take it to a shop?
thanks |
got it off, just took alot of muscle

normally standing up and kicking the rim hard will take off any stubborn rims, make sure to clean up whatever rust was holding it on before you remount them (to late i'm sure though)

A little bit of antiseize goes a long way to prevent this after you clean everything up put a thin film on the hubs and the studs .

um, i hope you arn't putting antiseize on the threads for the nuts... you will overtorque your rims, possibly wrecking them somewhat, especially if they are alloy rims and you have a very good chance of breaking the studs (trust me on this one) |
i just cleaned it up a bit with a wire brush, hopefully all is good when i take em off it not i'll clean them up really good (probably do it anyways)

good to hear you got it cleaned up....
I worked in a tire shop a few years ago... and I remember a few that we beat on the tires with sledge hammers....... they were completely seized... just takes time and some muscles. clean them up, give them a quick shot of paint if they're bare.... tremclad rust paint or similar. |
