Ok,

Thanks for the input. Now, would either the Mustang GT or Explorer rear end have come with T-Lok?

Mustang GT axle would have, Explorer can be either way. Explorer pinion is offset to one side, and has leaf spring vs. coil spring mounts ... unless you're good with a welder, don't be trying to make one of those fit your car.

Thanks Ed,

So just to be clear, in theory, if I got the 3.73 from the Explorer, and a 99-04 GT rear end it would just be a matter of swapping the ring and pinion set...

Yup, no problem to swap the r&p out of the Explorer 8.8 to get the ratio you want for the Mustang assembly.

here's hoping and good luck

Blackheart4355 Oct 19, 2011 06:41 PM

Well,

The guy turned down my offer...so I told him if he changes his mind to let me know... :(

That sucks!! Especially when you think the of best of the situation.

fast Ed Oct 19, 2011 08:30 PM

Well, 3.73 gears are pretty common out there for sale. Keep an eye out for a good used set. That way you're not having to diassemble a complete axle to rob the gear set out of it.
