Are you running an aluminum driveshaft?

Just curious how many have you went out and did this mod?

I own a Fox and finally did the drive shaft just a few years ago, rotating mass go away!

The fox body ones are cheap through ebay.

Not my best mod, but a nice one to have :)

I had it done when I put the 4.10'S in. I figured another $300 bucks was worth it then its done.

TonyDee 12-19-2008 10:11 AM

Not much of an improvement, but looks better than the regular driveshaft.

Crafty 12-19-2008 01:26 PM

i heard it was supposed to put less stress on the driveline...:dunno

roddy 12-19-2008 07:14 PM

I'm running a Shaftmasters 4" aluminum 'shaft on my S197...10 lbs lighter than the stock boat anchor!

Stang Illusions 5.0L 12-20-2008 04:47 AM

yuppers... I agree^

I've picked up one last year... best move I could have made

l8/93lx 12-22-2008 06:43 PM

+1 Had one for years. Rotating weight baby, less is better

QWKRN-U 01-20-2009 08:08 AM

Unless you have a vibration with the stocker, not worth the $$$ for the gains IMO. So no I dont have one. LOL

1low03gt 01-20-2009 05:33 PM

I have a Ford racing one.Not the top mod on my list, but you do feel the engine rev quicker/free'r.

lazy_stang 03-04-2009 07:52 AM

is a fox body shaft the same length as a 95 GT?

TOPLSFOX 03-04-2009 08:09 AM

What are the benefits in HP for running an aluminum driveshaft?

lazy_stang 03-04-2009 08:20 AM

No HP gains to the engine, just easier to get the HP to the ground, not sure if it results in more wheel horse or not?

No HP gains to the engine, just free's up rotating mass. And like other's have said just easier to more HP and TQ to the ground.

I would think your numbers would increase.... but could be wrong.
This is were MattD should chime in :tup

it takes less power to turn so in turn you have more power at your foot put on a dyno you get peak power about 100rpm earlier on stock engine run chome-moly even better for planting power less flex heavy but worth the weight in gold, twisted my aluminum was not happy u-joints did not break damn buying good parts bit me in the ass.

borbet 04-13-2009 05:14 PM

I put one in my fox ( thanks LX351 ) and it cleaned up alot of the shake i had . Still searching for the rest of it lol.

Matter of fact, they work right up to mid '01 with the t45 trans for sure,a buddy of mine was in a pinch with his driveshaft in his '97 GT,and we put a '89 driveshaft in it.They were the same length.:tup

lol are you serious? that's sweet. i'm guessing that a 96-04 V6 would be the same too than :)

Gathered up 2/10 on my 1/4 ET

roddy 05-03-2009 08:19 AM

More important (to me) than E.T. improvement, I lost a lot of driveline vibration at highway speeds when I switched to an aluminum shaft on my s197.

kena 05-03-2009 09:26 AM

There is nothing more important than ET, shame on you :)

MustangMikey 01-23-2010 07:46 AM

I got one just waiting for the nice weather to install it. So i hope yous are right! My main issue is vibration.

niko 04-18-2014 10:52 PM

Yes. Installed one on my 2011 mustang gt. Very happy with the results
