For Sale: Traction-Lok Limited Slip Differential
I have a used 8.8" 31 spline Traction-Lok limited slip diff that came off a 2012 Boss 302. The one in the Boss has the carbon fibre clutch plates. It's the same as the Ford Racing unit part M-4204-F318C. It only has 5k miles on it and I'd like to get $225 OBO plus shipping. It costs $397.99 on Steeda.ca.
Edit: Never been dragged or hard launched! |
Did you swap over to the Torsen?

So stupid question, but why is this better than my diff?

when you're going around a turn, your inside wheel becomes unloaded because weight is transferred to the outside (evident in the car leaning although if you had a car that's as stiff as a rock and didn't lean, you would still get weight transfer). this means that the inside wheel has less traction because it has less weight over it and can't transfer that much torque while the outside can transfer more. you can't take advantage of that because the amount of torque supplied to the outside cannot exceed that supplied to the inside (which is little). if you try to give it more power, you'll spin the inside wheel and not gain much speed. a limited slip diff resists slippage of the inside wheel and allows the outside wheel to get more torque so you can put more power down and accelerate faster out of corners. |
any takers?
