Aftermarket Air Intake...
Hi folks Any info is appreciated. Looking for a new air intake for my 4.6L 3v. Don’t really want to have to plug in 92 octane as it is hard to get here N of Kingston. So I feel a tune is NOT required. Any experience, comments appreciated. Tx, FrankieMachina |
I'd go either Steeda.ca or American Muscle. Not sure if any intakes can be run tune free but i'm sure one or two can. If not get a tune for whatever octane you want. They can customize the tunes.

Frankie...modern Mustangs have a pretty well designed air intake system from the factory. A CAI that doesn't require a tune will be of little to no benefit (other than looks, and a bit of noise). If looks are what you want, go with what you like the look of. If you want a bit more power, a CAI that requires a tune will give the best results (I would suggest C&L). If you don't have a tuner yet, I would suggest starting there first, with an SCT tuner. You can get tunes for any octane level. That will make a much more noticeable difference in the feel of the car than a CAI alone will. Is your car automatic, or stick?
