Ford racing supercharger

Hi guys. Looking at trading my 2014 GT for a 2016 this winter/early spring. And would like to add the Ford racing supercharger kit. It seems to be popular in the US and the least troublesome as far as warranty of the car is concerned. But I'm having a hell of a time getting my local dealer to even look into it. Has anyone had any luck with one of these as a dealer install ? Tks guys

Welcome to the club! I know that my dealership asked me if I wanted a charger so, maybe time for a different dealer?

ChadStang 12-20-2015 10:42 PM

I can't see why the dealer wouldn't want to do it. One thing to keep in mind though, is that even though it's a Ford Racing part installed by a Ford Racing dealer, your factory engine warranty is basically gone and warranty gets picked up by Ford Racing. If something happens, you may not have 100% coverage on parts or labor. It usually caps at a certain dollar amount.

I can live with partial coverage. Ultimately Just curious if Canadian dealers are indeed installing these At the very least my dealer could refer to them for advice Or at least find out where to look for info relating to such an install

Canadian dealers are definitely installing them, and Ford even sent out a bulletin to all dealers in July with info on it. You can give them this bulletin number MBG 2015-312N and it should give them all of the info that they need.

Buy a GT500, full warranty, pre-installed supercharger, no worries about coverage. Welcome, just kidding, but not really. for what you would spend on a supercharger, installation, and any other upgrades, I'm really starting to think as I get older that factory muscle is the way to go. Now if I can just get my hands on a GT350. lol

OutEast 12-22-2015 06:00 AM

I want to go new And as the gt500 is no longer available, and the Gt350 is a beauty. But its 65000$at least and has 526 hp. The regular GT with blower is 56-57k with 670hp. And precisely why I'm looking to stick with something as close to factory warranty as possible. I'll admit factory muscle is the way to go. Ford just doesn't have something as potent as the gt500 currently

Apocalypse Pony 12-22-2015 02:42 PM

Wait and see, theres supposed to be a 2016 GT500 to follow up the GT350. And the GT might be 670hp for less money, but does it have all the bits and pieces engineered to work together?

OutEast 12-22-2015 10:35 PM

The gt500 is looking more like 2017. And if it's anything like the gt350. Dealers will be marking them up by 20 grand. Ouchhhh. I totally hear what your saying about factory engineered bit. However the Ford racing blower is actually a roush charger, so i think it'd be pretty sorted out And I hate waiting lol. After the holidays. I'm gonna dive in further. And I'll let ya' know how it goes

Keep in mind that with the new GT350 your getting a lot more than just HP. The GT S550 with a supercharger is still just a base GT with lots more HP. In my personal opinion if I had the type of money your talking, I'd be going new GT350. Comes down to personal preferences though. Good luck whatever you do.

I come from roading racing back ground, so the 350 turns my crank.
If your drag racer or straight line guy the GT500 is the way to go.
I did SC my 08 GT/CS vert, but I also did complete suspension upgrade.

Rumour has the new GT500 coming in 18 and possibly being 3.5 V-6 with twin turbos
along the lines of the Ford GT, pushing 700hp. Now that could be all kinds of fun.
But I am sure rumours will run wild until its released and you can bet it will be more
money again, so start saving your pennies now :)

Actually will add this, with car manufactures fighting to be top dog.
It is great time to be car enthusiast :)
