fox exhaust setup
hey guys
I'm currently putting a 1987 coupe on the road and wanted to get some great sound and power out of her as I dont need to do an emmission test. I was thinking bbk shorty headers, stock h pipe with one or both sets of cats punched and flowmaster 40 series mufflers. I'm thinking of using this setup because the components are cheap and easy to source used. I'm just getting into the mustangs and would appreciate any suggestions regarding my plans from the experienced members Also I was thinking of putting 3:55 gears in |
I'm assuming its a 5.0 we're working with? Also, 5-speed or auto?
|
I would go with long tube headers and an off road h pipe. The 40's will sound great.
|
sorry, yes its a 5.0 standard

i heard that long tubes will give me problems ie: starter and modifications to install? and would a stock h pipe with hollowed cats do the same as a off road pipe? (so the cops dont bug me)

I have a mac offroad H pipe for longtubes, a pair of magnaflow mufflers amd flowtubes for sale. can still be heard on car but not for too much longer
|
I have no doubt the 40's will sound great as I had them back in the day

With a 5.0, 5-speed ... I'd go with 3.73 gears rather than 3.55. I think you'll be dissappointed with the 3.55's.
x 2 on the 40 series ... you'll like the sound. Long tube headers are a great suggestion BUT if you're not installing them yourself I'd get an installation quote BEFORE you buy. They can be quite the job to install and the cost of installation reflects that. Good luck. Let us know what you went with. |
So i want to go with 3:73's?
I can only go with what advice I recieve as my experience with these cars is limited. I'm thinking i'll go with shortys as they seem to be easy to find used and can be installed with ease, I really just want to make her sound mean and take advantage of not having to do an emmission test |
