Gt 500 supercharger install on stock gt

I'm looking at a supercharger from a gt500 that I'm thinking of buying but not sure what else I'll need for the install besides pullies, belt and maybe injectors?

Speedtospare 08-11-2012 10:42 PM

What year or shelby, what year of GT?

Coldshot 08-11-2012 10:48 PM

2009 gt Is what I got and it's an m122 from a newer gt500 I'm guessing 07 but either way it should fit fine on my 4.6l. I just need to know what I'll be getting into if I go threw with it.

GT500 has the 5.4L, your GT has a 4.6L. If you think it should fit fine, go for it.

Are there any aftermarket intakes out there now to put the Shelby M122 on a 4.6 3V engine. I know they exist to put a Cobra M112 on a 4.6 2V, not sure about the newer stuff. That's going to be the biggest hurdle to overcome, actually bolting it ro your engine!

cheers
Ed

There is a company down in the states that sells an intake to make it work but I dont recall the name, do a google search and you should find it.

Not sure if I can link to other forums, so mods delete if need be.

But this thread should help you, its pretty long winded and I havnt read it all but,

Will a GT500 supercharger fit on a 4.6 GT? - Ford Mustang Forums

Yeah I over looked the gt500 engine size, And I keep hearing about joeys supercharger manifolds for the conversion but can't find them online. Any word on maybe a spacer adaptor or would it be to much of a difference in dymentions. P.s. this is the newest stang iv ever had and just got it so I'm up for some tips on anything about them, thanks.

^^ I think the manifolds are still in the testing faze right now.

I think it will be alot of DIY work to do this yourself and lots of parts are needed, fuel pump , intake, manifold, air intake etc...

If you wanna get blown look at the kits on AM, Steeda, etc. How big you wanna go.
There's tons of mods to be done to the motors of these cars.

First off I'm looking at doing some cheap upgrades. I don't have much interested in doing anything on how it looks cuz there's not really any improving needed there. But... Everytime I drive all I can think of is "I NEED MORE POWER!" but like everyone I'm not rich, so any suggestions? Seeing how the supercharger is starting to seem a little to much work and money for a starter.

Start out with a cold air intake and tune, then go from there.

Coldshot 08-12-2012 03:40 PM

I do have cold air and hurst short throw shifter. Looking at the bbk throttle body and a spacer. Also the pypes pype bomb axle back kit is at the top of my list. Any other sites besides AM that could have those cheaper?

Apocalypse Pony 08-13-2012 06:51 AM

Anyway you look at it dude, speed costs money, just a matter of how fast you wanna go.
