Module Plastics
4 Attachment(s)
In 2006 I bought a SCT Calibrator2 for my 2005 4,0L. I initially used it to setup the the Brenspeed tune and have used it a few times over the years to delete error codes. A few days ago I got a check engine light code so i pulled the calibrator out of the trunk and tried to plug into the OBD2 slot under the dash but the plastic male end on the calibrator broke apart. After doing so research on the internet I found that plastic eventually breaks down.
I called Brenspeed thinking that perhaps I could send the calibrator back and have a new cord attached to the device but they no longer service the Calibrator2 owing to new advanced technologies like the SCT4. I had always kept the calibrator in its original box in the trunk in case something occurred on the road requiring a reset. Not sure if the varying temperatures between the summer and winter affected the plastic but will keep the new one in the house from now on. I am thinking perhaps these plastic modules need a constant temperature. Attached are pics of the old Calibrator2 and the SCT4 I currently have for my 2007 GT. Just bought a new SCT4 for the 2005 yesterday. |
Yikes! I have an Xcal2 as well. I don't use it much, but will make sure to be really gentle with it when I do. Thanks for the heads-up.

I won't sweat it too much...the Xcal 2 is pretty basic. would actually give me a good reason to stop procrastinating, and upgrade.
BTW, if you didn't already know, the Collective is done at the end of this month...they're pulling the plug and moving the remnants over to BookFace. If there is anyone there you want to contact, or any info/pics/posts you want to save, better get on it. |

A friendly little Mustang forum (much like this one). It is/was the best resource on the web for 4.0 V6 Mustang technical info. Ray used to post there a fair bit, so I thought I'd give him a heads-up in case there was anything there he wanted to pull out and save.
