Nice weather down this way in Windsor NOT. A few days ago I asked for ideas on adding performance parts. Here is another question, how do you feel about stock Mustang Gt's in the grand scheme of things. Interested in as many responses as possible. :)

Well just how Stock? and what year?

If you're going with the Foxbody, you really can't go wrong. There's plenty of strong runners out there. 14 seconds (some low, some middle, some high) is still very fast for a stock car these days.

But the definition of stock is open to interpretation. I have a stock motor, but my car is far from stock. But not extensive by any means. If you put a gear in a stock mustang coupled with slicks, some suspension and Nitrous you can be going 11's for about $1500. IF of course you're wise with your money.

I personally have done that setup, and even with my Pig T-Top car it went 12.3 with no nitrous in 3rd or 4th, which is why my MPH was so low at 106. Like I said, the year of Mustang counts quite a bit. If you get something in the 94-95, or 96-98 range 14 seconds would be something to aim for, but certainly not a given.

As for 99+, it's pretty safe to say that barring any real mechanical problems or piss poor driving you still have a very low 14 second car. Most are 13's though with some seat time. Bone Stock.

Morning. The reason I ask is that most of the cars in the club have been modified. Just wondering if stock gt"s would receive any respect from the mod crowd. Mine is a 99gt, other than exhaust, k&n, lowering kit, wider tires/ drive train is unmolested. :cheers:

a mustang always gets respect, well maybe not too much for a 4-banger but how many mods a mustang has depends on the person and how deep they're wallet goes, some people are happy with a 14 or 15 second car, others aren't.

It's not about the cars...it's about the people behind the cars.

A beautiful, well-maintained stocker gets just as much respect as a wildly modded ride. :tup

Sweet. I would love to modify, but my wife will tell anyone who listens I am as cheap as June 21 is long. :laughhard. To me nothing is nicer than a spotless Gt, stock of modified. Mind you spending the dollars on polish and wax, not a problem. ARMY :tup

Good ol' Windsor. I was born and raised there but moved away 15 years ago. As far as Mustangs go, it's a well respected vehicle in any car circle. Everyone has some kind a memory with them. It seems like everyone had a friend a relative with one and loved it.

I wish the mod motor was 5.0 Litres. No matter what year it is, everyone asks me, "is that a 5 litre mustang". I just yes it is. Seems like the engine is just as popular is the name.

You know, it's a funny thing when you have a Mustang. At the track, people will want to watch you race. They just expect a lot from the car.

Stock Mustangs are fun. If you start to modifiy, that's when the fun turns into excitement :tup

Funny my buddy just bought his GF a BONE STOCK 1990 GT Cobra a few months ago. Has around 200000 KMs, but in real nice clean shape, has chrome Cobra Rs [thats the only thing that [was not stock] and came with a shift kit, a 2500 stall, and 3.73s all new in the boxes.. safetied and E tested for $3500. Still had the air silencer in it. :)

Needeless to say the gears, shift kit and stall are in, it has a K&N w/ a modded stock air box, and a bored out 60 mm stock maf.. and he has a Dyno max 2 1/2" cat back, ported stock headers, underdrive pulleys, & a few other small things on the shelf...

Basically wants 14.00s - 13.90s..
