Supercharger

I am currently saving for a supercharger for my 3.8L and am in need of some guidance. First of all, what sort of a set up do I need to have in place before installing? Can I simply supercharge from stock and nothing needs to be changed? Can the stock ford auto tranny hold it? Will I need a seperate performance tune to calibrate anything? Someone give me a detailed breakdwn please, before i lose my mind over this. :|

gonna have to upgrade your injectors, fuel pump, mass-air,your gonna need a tune for sure, not 100% about the tranny but as long as your not abusing it, i don't see why it wouldn't be fine,i'm running my stock tranny, 96000kms with an aftercooled vortech kit with 12psi and i have had no troubles at all,,,stock clutch even,,,,,good luck hope this helps abit

Indeed

That does help quite a bit, what do you mean by upgrading my mass air? Can you buy kits that come with all these upgrades as well as the charger?

going to a bigger mass-air flow sensor, that will have to be calibrated for the bigger injectors....yes with most kits everything is included

What kinda of S/Cer are you looking for a Centrifugal, or Roots?
If you can afford it you can buy everything separate.
You will need to find out what size injectors you will need, then you will need to find a MAF and get it calibrated.
But first I would find out what kind of S/Cer your looking for.....

Centrifugal
www.procharger.com
There is others that are centrifugal, but I prefer ProCharger since they come intercooled. Engines LOVE cold air.

or

Roots

Good luck
Keith.

what year stang is it? If you have a 94-98 get a Thunderbird Supercoupe blower setup, ont he street the torque is lots of fun, and it will out run any centrifugul in stock for stock trim. I am gonna be running low 13's on a stock Mustang motor with Supercoupe blower and bolt ons. My best so far is 14.0 with stock 273 gears and stock suspension, I now have t-lok 3.73 boxed upper and lowers, weld rims and subframes ready to be installed. Hoping for low 13's or even a high 12. Can't beat that for a stock motor with blower bolted on.

If you have a 99+ then the Supercoupe blower won't work. In that case go Procharger or turbo.

yep i can vouch for that, the supercoupe setup is worth its weight in gold for power. if you look at what people spend to get 60rwhp and 70-80rwtq (like 4 grand) the supercoupe roots setup you can get for half that and gives 100hp and 185tq at least and thats without a proper dyno. and theres still tons of stuff as v6sprout said to give you more power. i had my S/C setup done by v6sprout and he sure knows what hes doing thumb:
