Chin Spoiler 05-09 GT

Looking to buy a chin spoiler for my 07 GT. Would prefer to get it in Canada to avoid all the duty charges.

Not Canadian but American Muscle is a good spot for decent pricing

Whosit 03-06-2011 01:18 PM

AM is the way to go. $315 for a CDC shipped to your door all fees included.

karlj 03-06-2011 03:51 PM

I did do some checking around this afternoon and American Muscle is the most likely way to go. It works out to 275.00 shipped to my door unpainted. My brother still has some paint left after he did my GT500 hood for me so that's what I will do. Thanks for your input.

I would check our new sponsor Steeda

wenstang 03-07-2011 03:58 PM

Definately check out Steeda, lower price for the same product. CDC classic chin spoiler unpainted is under $300 including shipping and tax.

Whosit 03-07-2011 05:11 PM

No offense to Steeda cause it's not just them but normally Canadian retailers can't compete with US retailers especially on large ticket items. This on the other hand is much cheaper at Steeda.

I always prefer to buy locally even if it means spending a bit more but money is money. I saved almost $1000 buying my procharger from the US. What I don't get is with the dollar the way it is why Canadian prices have not dropped dramatically.

Got mine through WMS. Pricing same as AM.

Whosit 03-07-2011 05:53 PM

I had my procharger narrowed down to WMS as they had the best price in Canada. In the end though they still could not compete with US pricing.

I tried checking on Steeda's site for chin spoiler but couldn't find one. Because they are a site supporter I would prefer to support them. On the other hand you are right about the way the Canadian dollar is and the prices not being lowered. Either way I'm putting a spoiler on my GT and someones going to deliver it to me I just don't know who.

That is the spoiler that I ordered last night. Now I can't decide if I want to paint it or leave it black. I suppose I could always remove it and paint it at a later date if I don't like the black look.

Whosit 03-08-2011 06:31 AM

If you do paint it makes sure you have to proper adhesion promoter. Had a hell of a time getting paint to lay down properly on mine.

My brother is in that business and worked for the Ford dealership here in Moncton for several years. Part of his job was in the the detailing shop and customizing end of it. He actually installed the stripe kit and light bar on my 07 GT when it was new. I think that I will leave it black for now as it might look OK. The color is Grabber Orange with a black Boss stripe so who knows.

Whosit 03-08-2011 11:25 AM

I thought the same when I got mine about leaving it but the flat black was more grey and it just did not look right. It's a personal choice though.

karlj 03-08-2011 03:12 PM

Looking at yours painted to match and taking a visual of the front of mine now gives me the incentive to have it painted grabber orange like the car.

If you click on my signature picture on the front page of my website there are pictures of it before and after paint.

I can see that you have had some great fun with the building of your ride.

Yup! Once you start it doesn't end either so be prepared. I always think I am done then find something else to do.

karlj 03-09-2011 07:18 AM

Although I have had the car in storage since November I have been ordering stuff from A.M. & Steeda all winter long. I probably won't take the car out until late April or early May then I can have everything I bought through the winter months installed. Like you say it is an addictive hobby and I will never quit. What makes it interesting for me is that my other brother has an 08 GT convertible automatic so there is a bit of competition going on.

Yeah my plans are always order over the winter and install in spring. Problem is parts show up and beg to be installed right away!!!! Only thing I actually have waited to do is the supercharger.

karlj 03-09-2011 08:06 AM

I had some work done to the 09 GT500 hood that I put on over the winter so when I reinstalled it I also installed my shock tower brace. The Steeda short shifter will have to wait until I bring the car back home and that will allow me to have the chin spoiler painted and then I can install that at the same time.
