Go to MTO. Get a vehicle history report for all vehicles owned by your dad. (If you have a picture of the car with the licence plate on it this will be easier but MTO can search under a persons name too). The Mustang will be in the report. Get the V.I.N. number off the Mustang. Run the V.I.N. with either MTO (any Service Ontario kiosk will do it) or CARFAX (either will work).

Take the ownership information MTO or CARFAX gives you ... call the guy up and ask for your old car back.

Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I have already gone to the mto. I'm kind of screwed, it appears that he didn't put the mustang in his name. I only have the pictures in my mind so no lic plate. The mto asked for that too, they seemed like they wanted to help but if it wasn't in his name, there's not much they can do. I can't get any paper either, he died in 81'.

Hmmmmm, quite the quandrey.

Any old friends of his still alround? Maybe they have some pictures of the car with the plate. Maybe they know the name of the person he bought it from or the name of the person he sold it too.

Ahh, another idea, check his driving record!!! If you're lucky he got a ticket in that Mustang (as most of us have in our Mustangs). The licence plate will be on the ticket! Those records are kept for about 100 years in Ontario. You may have to check with the city, townshi, etc. as MTO may not have the information off the ticket - thats what you need. Start with local archives!

Good luck Pal. I hope you find her.

I guess I should check out the ticket thing. I do remember him getting pulled over a lot. I anticipate some dead ends following some short phone conversations with the city or township.. Not sure where to start with that, but it's worth a shot. As far as his friends and family, I'm the only one that even remembers his cars!! I will keep you posted.

Another avenue, although I don't know if they'll help or not, is to go to his old bank. Maybe he used the car as collatoral for a loan, or got a loan for the Mustang itself. They'd have the VIN.

As for the tickets - if you don't want to waste time on the phone with city emloyees or MTO go to your local city archives. You can find what you need yourself.

Good luck.

Are you looking to restore it?

Insurance company might be able to help too but often the records are gone after 15 years

Hope it's not this one!

I would have to see along the trunk lid above the tailights- custom pinstripe. But that doesn't look like it- wasn't a grande with a top.
Thanks for the pic though, that's the spirit!!!
