07 gt rear spoiler swap

Looking to swap out the stock rear spoiler on my 07 gt, for a shelby style spoiler. Any suggestions/comments? Anyone else done this? (Searched the forums here but couldn't find anything). Thanks.

Had a friend that did that one. Got the factory Shelby unit from a dude on EBay and had it prepped and painted at a local body shop - pretty easy swap to do. Pop the trunk, unbolt the four nuts on the stocker, remove it, and drop the Shelby spoiler into the same holes and re-bolt it on. There's two sided tape as a seal around the holes, which is a bit of a bitch.

That's it man....sit back and enjoy.

Thanks AP.
I'm looking at ordering from a place called spoilersource.com (2005 - 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 Factory Style Painted Rear Spoiler).
Painted, ready to install, for $149 US. I emailed them about shipping - $40 to ship to Vancouver.
Little bit skeptical, but considering placing my order.

If you can find a deal on a real Ford gt500 wing I'd go with that.
I got one for mine and it is great quality.
It comes ready to paint and has the 3M tape applied from the factory for a very easy problem free install.

There are a few other knock offs of this same style wing so just do your homework if you go that route to avoid dissapointments.

Getting the sticky residue off of the deck lid from the stocker will be the pain in the ass with this swap.

Ray Spencer also did this swap so if you check some threads you can see what he had to say about it.

Thanks DTK.
Local Ford dealer quoted me $350 for the real thing.
Needs painting as well - no idea what that would cost.
On the other hand I don't want to install an inferior 'knock-off' - problem is they look good in the ads online, hard to discern any real difference with the factory original - except for the price!
Anyway, appreciate your input. I was just about to order online, but maybe I'll rethink it a bit.
I'll look for Ray Spencer's posts in the meantime.
Thanks again.
Oh, also: seems the factory Shelby spoiler doesn't require any new holes - uses all 4 holes from the original GT spoiler. The online knock-offs all seem to require drilling 2 more holes (closer to the ends) - and I'm not too keen to be drilling the trunk lid.

I got mine last year for $199 from Chicago parts and sound on their ebay site. Shipping through DHL wasn't a lot from what I remember.
There are a few on there for that price or close now.

Well now I'm being quoted $297 from Ford here in Vancouver (for factory Shelby GT500 spoiler, unpainted), and I've decided to go for it. Local body shop estimates $200 for paint and install. Bit more than I thought I'd have to pay, but I'd rather get it done right. Thanks to everyone for your advice.

You won't regret the decision to go with OEM stuff.:tup It sounds like stating the obvious, but from what i've seen from my buddy's installation, fit and finish is perfect.

It's a much nicer look than the two pedestal look of the stocker...I'm considering doing it myself. ( Likely the closest this kid is going to get to a GT500!!) ha ha ha
