Claybar

Finished the Chemical Guy's Claybar treatment, followed by Meguiar's Compound W, Meguiar's polish and Ultimate Wax. Turned out pretty good considering the number of marks on the driver's door.

Looking good Ray. You need to get that spot fixed on the hood though, the Ford Racing decals are nice, but they take away from the look of the car IMO. Personally, touch up paint would be better for that spot, the decals just draw your attention to the hood IMO. No offence intended, just my impression from looking at the pics, the more I see them, just wanted to throw in my two cents. How many hours did it take for the clay bar, polish and wax?

I agree with you regarding the decals however the rock chip repair was to big. Even after the rock chip was touched up the repair locked somewhat nasty. I only wanted one decal over the rock chip but my other half thought that the left side should have one two. Pics are of the repaired rock chip in the stripe paint. Not sure if I want to go through the cost of re-painting the whole hood.

The claybar process took about 2.5 hours then another 3 hours applying the Meguiar's Compound W, Polish and Ultimate Wax. Used a Meguiar's Dual Action Polisher. Doing the rear trunk lid, rear bumper and front end today. For a vehicle that was literally saved from a used car lot it turned out pretty good. Going to try a coat of Chemical Guy's Butter Wax on the hood.

Looks reall good! It's amazing what a good clay bar cleanning will do. The paint becomes soo smoooooth once all is said, and done.

Thanks. The medium claybar and luber from Chemical Guys does an excellent job and can be bought on Amazon.ca.

Thanks for the tip, was looking to get some CG stuff for mine and no one near me sells it.
Dark cars are a PITA but look great when clean.

Nice job Ray. Too bad about the dent on the nose, but you did right taking care of it as it's an area that'll rust up quickly if left exposed.
Are your stripes just laid on the paint or are they sealed in? Is it possible to just get some of the stripe material in the same width and fix the chip then put the new stripe over it?

I use the CG lubber as well. I also dilute it and use it as a detailer for keeping the car slippery and shiny clean.
I tried the clay glove and found it works about as well as the clay bar but much easier, and to clean it you only need to rinse it. If you drop your clay bar it's toast.
Nanoskin AutoScrub Fine Grade Wash Mitt
Other companies make these mitts as well and they're available in fine and medium grade.

The stripes are painted on at Flat Rock. I had the same idea until I realized that they were painted on.
