I'm not quite sure what principals it works on... I read something about giving the body a polarity to repell salt but not sure.... its at crappy tire right??

MustangMan02 12-26-2008 11:43 AM

My buddy swears by it. He has a 2004 Mazda 3 and had one on his 91 5.0, and his 88 Buick. He says they work, I have no experiece with them so I would not know. I may put one on the Stang and see what happends

bstevens39 12-26-2008 02:02 PM

yeh you can get them at "crappy tire" i've heard a few people say good things but its one of those things thats new and most people haven't tried or heard of ( not like you can tell immediatley if it works) but i think i might get one to test out and if it works would be a good investment if not oh well

nickm50 12-27-2008 05:45 AM

they don't work in a car application. the protection is only in a straight line from probe to probe. It does not disperse through the entire car. They use the same technology on boats to stop the keels from rusting out.

This technology is not new. I've heard the trucking industry has been using them for years. I believe they are supposed to stop corosion by introducing an elecrode into the metal preventing it from rusting.

Had mine installed at the dealership before I took delivery... Got a 10 year warranty against rust, Any rusting at all, Including stone chips etc. Been on for 3 years come May '09 and no sign of anything yet... Time will tell whether it works as well as they say and whether they will stand behind the warranty..!

fox5 12-28-2008 07:14 AM

how does it help with stonechips?

Ryeker 12-28-2008 03:45 PM

If the stone chips right through the paint to the metal (exposing the bare metal) then the rusting process will not start, It just stays as bare metal (so they say... I will let you know when I finally get a stone chip..!) :tup

Living in a semi-arid area I don't drive in the rain/snow and it's in a garage so no rust, EVER:biggrin:

Hammer3.8 12-29-2008 03:35 PM

buddy of mine had it installed on his brand new F150 2 years ago, the fender started rusting where the contact was attached this year, so I'd have to say they are JUNK!

good luck!

I have one on my Saturn but it came with the car.....underneath is somewhat rusty but rest of the car is fine....I wonder why?

OVERKILL 12-30-2008 07:31 PM

As mentioned above, they DO NOT work.

My mom has one on her 2000 Expedition. And while the body has no rust, the factory reese hitch got pretty rusty, and we had rust streaks coming out the drains in the bottom of the doors.

It now gets Krown. The streaks are gone, it now gets "Krown trails" instead ;)

I have heard that they are junk, and I personally go to Krown to get the rust proofing done on my 90 stang, which is still rust free.

Josh; StealthGT on this board sprays my cars.

1989 Town Car. 337,000Km on it now.

It used to be sprayed with Rust Check, now gets Krown. You can see it seeping out all over the place. 20 years of rust proofing will do that I guess ;)

johnny5 12-30-2008 07:57 PM

I haven't seen any of the rust proofing seeping out of any where on the car, the only thing is that it drips the extra off over the next couple of days after it is sprayed.

It takes a number of years ;) The above car has 20 years worth remember.....
