How to handle it when it gets dirty

I have about 1400km's on my '13 mustang convertible. It is tucked away in the barn until spring but I have waxed the aluminum wheels once, put on paint sealant and applied some stuff I got at Canadian Tire to prevent brake dust from gathering on the wheels. I have put on one coat of wax on the body and will put on a coat of sealant on the paint sometime this weekend (maybe tomorrow). After that probably another coat of wax and then just detailing spray until spring. Will also do a leather conditioner on the interior and latter next month buy some rag top cleaner and protectant.
The problem I will have to deal with is it looks show shiny and new now but I know it will get dirty and and the lustre will wear away....that will be sad so I will have to do it all over again and again and again!! Might be glad when next winter comes so I can have a rest from cleaning it again.:banghead:

Don't sweat it Gramps, it's the cost of doing business. You want it to look all showroom shiny, keep it in the garage, but I'm guessing you paid all that hard earned cash to get out there and drive it and enjoy running with the top down. You do that, it's gonna get dirty, no two ways about it, but cars are made to do that. Don't be a slave to keeping it looking showroom, you'll drive yourself crazy. Find that middle ground between keeping it looking good and doing what it was made to do in the first place - drive !!!

Hi Gramps.. It's been my experience that once you get about 3 coats of GOOD wax on it, it becomes very easy to keep clean because not much will stick. Use something with a high carnuba content. I stay away from the 'tech wax' stuff, but I hear some have good results. I wash every week with a GOOD car wash soap (never dishwash stuff) then quick dry with the leaf blower. Then I wipe it all down using good clean towels and Quick Wax or Detailer. I can be done start to finish in 20 minutes once it's got a few coats on it. I always get comments on how it looks and "How do you keep it so clean?". I've done this with my pickup, my bike and now the 'stang. And I put over 10k on it in 3 1/2 months this summer. It gets easier as you go. Stick with it my friend. There is nothing to compare with the grin you get when people say they like your ride.

Definitely got to find that that middle gorund to where you will enjoy it without going nuts trying to keep it clean. I know this for sure..... cause at times it gets to the point i don't want to drive my GT cause it "might get dusty" LOL!!

With me having a black car believe me I feel you pain :banghead:
Finding that middle ground is key.
After giving my ride a thorough and detail going out with the top down makes it all worth it on the first ride out. :tup

Ask SNAKEBITE about the middle ground. LOL.

I love cleaning, detailing, polishing, waxing my Stang, and do it quite regularly. Most people think I'm a bit on the wacky side when it comes to this, but I really do enjoy it. :?

I use to be the same, always tried to find an excuse to go, and clean the hot rods to what ever it was at the time, but in the last few years it feels more like a chore, mostly because of my schedual due to work, and family time, back then i was either single, or had no kids.LOL

^^^ Yep. I used to be the same. Now I just try to get behind the wheel. LOL.
